  12. At the turn of the century, 1900, 80% of Americans worked on farms. Today, it's about 4%. The mechanization of agriculture didn't result in 76% unemployment, it freed people to do other work. The availability of labor that was previously tied up in farming allowed incredible increases in productivity and our standard of living in the 20th century.

    Nope. The reason there was a revenue decline is because in the year-ago quarter, there was a spike of orders due to pent-up demand from backlogs in the previous quarter. In effect, two quarters' worth of demand was sold in a single quarter.

    The fact remains that Apple's sales and profits this quarter are still far and away the biggest in the industry.

  24. The government is trying to coerce the defendant to divulge information that can be used against him. Whether spoken, typed, or written in crayon, the defendant has no duty to comply. By jailing him for asserting his right against self-incrimination, the judge is violating his civil rights under color of law.

    If we ever have a functioning justice system in this country again, that judge should be looking at some serious jail time of his own.
