Yea, that's great. Glad to see your opinion on here, and where you implied that "everyone" else feels the same way you do.

Except, it seems the majority of humans do use Facebook, but not G+. So it's not their aversion of social networks that's stopping them from using G+, but rather something else.

I wish the mods would stop up-voting anti-social-network posts. I know it's trendy on /. to post that stuff, but it's repetitive, and it offers no real insight on as to why G+ did not pick up, and Facebook remains champion.

Rest assured, from the technical side they could do it very quickly, as you outlined.

The problem is more than likely in market research. Bringing people in, asking them to listen to 50 varieties of car noises and judging them, to find just the "right" one that is pleasant, audible, but not overpowering, and most importantly better than any competitors.

Just like software development for consumers, often it's the UX/UI that is very time consuming and nit-picky, not the actual software itself.

What I do remember is to determine whether a planet was alone, and its size and shape, the orbital path was generally used. My professor was actually the one who discovered a few planets orbiting a star by the way the star shifted in position over time.

As for composition, that is generally done spectroscopically. This is just looking at the wavelengths of the light in different spectrum's, as elements produce different wavelengths. From this it's fairly easy to determine composition, though I can't be more detailed than that because I honestly don't remember anything other than "I did it", and if I did it, it can't have been too hard.

  13. Iran vs. US on Iran's Smart Concrete Can Cope With Earthquakes and Bombs · · Score: 4, Insightful

As some comments above have pointed out, the media as of late (well, probably always) has taken a really bias view of this Iran vs. US thing, to the point that.. I don't really know what to think.

In my quest to find less bias opinions, I turned to al-jazeera and other arab news sources to view comments from those who refer to Isreal as the "evil zionist regime." While many comments were ludicrous (but perhaps no more ludicrous than pro-US comments on CNN or something), there were many who pointed out that the US and Isreal have been known to carry out assassinations in Iran and other countries with basic impunity.

The question posed was, if Iran assassinated a scientist or politician in the United States, what kind of blow-back would there be? Why is the US/Isreal allowed to carry these out events without any world condemnation?

It's a difficult topic, because as much as I believe the US is going about things in the wrong way, if there's going to be someone who is the "world police" and the global power, I would prefer the US to any other country. Yet, it is clearly shielding the public from the double-standards it holds. Why does nobody else (general public) notice this? It's weird.

You seem to know more about it than others, perhaps you can link to some articles, or enlighten me as to why this kind of blatant anti-democratic is allowed by the Russian people with little protest, and why it's barely talked about in even western sources.

Oh I agree with you completely there. I used to have an nVidia geForce 8800GTS (yes it's old, but it worked great), but I was unable to update my nVidia drivers to the latest. In fact, I had to stick with a 2 year old version (I forget the version # exactly), otherwise I had random blue screens. Recently though, I bought BF3, and it crashed with the old drivers.. so then I was really fucked.

Ended up with ATI radeon to avoid nVidia completely, but like I said originally Catalyst started crashing my computer.. now though, after 3 months of dicking with it, it's working pretty well. But this is indeed very reminiscent of the 2002 shit video driver days.
