There is a game for keyboards, kinda, called Piano Wizard.
It's a blast to play with, but it's at best a standalone toy and falls far short of a cohesive game package and is way too expensive for mildly buggy software that lacks many obvious features.
1. Use a device that creates a topographical image on a pad based on the screen color values. This would allow the blind user to "feel" his way around the screen. More advanced versions could allow the user to use his hands as a mouse, by accepting a certain amount of pressure as a click.
Man i dunno about that, can you imagine the stuff they would have to feel while going through their spam?
was to get an atlas and use a CCTV+Magnification+System
With a CCTV for any printed media and using the Microsoft "Magnifier" on his computer, he's able to work full time in an IT department doing phone support.
Can we do a, "What are your favorite activities?" thread and then a thread on "What is your household income?" next? Might as well try and finish out this thinly disguised market research form...
Well, I was thinking of subscribing, but after last nights x-files screwup I got to thinking about how im getting my geek news. Fark and Google News appear to be decent shortterm alternatives. So instead of subscribing, I'm removing my/. link from my homepage and moving on.
Thanks for the sometimes interesting ride.
Please fire chrisd and jKatz. It won't make me come back, but it will at least restore some order to the universe.
hehe, most people know one or two people that have bought a horse, realized the horse sucked, and petitioned to VI to let them sell the horse back to the vendor.
Vi added re-selling of horses in the last patch.
I would guess that the impact of horses on the economy was possibly a minor blip that has gone away by now.
When EQ first came out Narril Duskwalker, joined with many other players to kill one of the few Dragons on norrath. After killing Lord Nagafen, Narril enters a lottery with the other members of the killing party and is awarded with a "Cloak of Flames." For the next year the CoF remains priceless because it imbues Narril with a haste rate of 36% to all of his attacks.
Sony releases an expansion.
As part of the expansion they create epic quests that require many weeks of work to finish but at the end of the quest Narril is awarded a dagger that give him a hate rate of 41% and the haste does not stack with the CoF, there for the CoF is worthelss to him. The people that haven't completed the quest are willing to pay Narril ~150k pp for the CoF as it is still an amazing item for them. A few new dragons are also introduced in the expansion and the value of the CoF slowy decays to ~100k pp
Sony releases an expansion.
Many new higher level dragons and quests appear that give rewards that are greater then the CoF. CoF ~75k pp
Sony releases an expansion.
Narril saw a CoF for sale for 35k pp the other day, and thought it was horribly overpriced.
Ok so were off topic here but...
more reasons why I didn't renew my daoc and went back to EQ;)
Similar to your point#3 the world is small.. and to compensate for the small world.. they made everyone move at a snails pace. (It was so nice to log into eq and hear my jboots go off)
Also, It's design doc mustve looked like, "See what people whine about in eq and let them have it, no matter what the consequences are to gameplay" This topic is a hole with no bottom but I'll sum it up into DAoC is overreactionary towards eq in thier approach to deesign.
Yah DAoC has lots of good points in it's favor, but the negatives kinda pushed me back into EQ;)
It comes out this week and may be a little pre-christmasy but if you or your loved ones play Everquest odds are you'll need to pickup Shadows of Luclin (yah.. ha ha on poor choice of acronyms on thier part) fairly soon.
It upgrades the character models and textures throughout the world and has all sort of cool new stuff added in.. along with a new world to explore. You may wanna check the system req's first though since new/better textures/models may require new/better video chips;)
My problem with EQ expansion though is that I run 3 accounts at once so I get hit 3 times on the cost of expansions:b
Becuase by not waiting they have giving more amunition to the FUD machine.
Maybe not waiting was the best thing for RH, but it certainly wasn't the best thing for linux.
hehehe.. thats what it looked like;)
The jeers aren't really at you Chris, but more towards Bruce for not taking slashdot seriously enough to properly answer by either e-mail or having his assistant/book publisher make an appointment to have the interview dictated properly.
As the "alpha geek" in my peer/family groups, my friends and relatives always check with me before purchasing software. Given the statements made by your company in regards to allowing federal torjans to live undetected on your paying customers machines, I will now refer the inquisitors to an alternative brand of AV software. I am also asking all of my other "geek" friends to take similar action in thier peer groups.
I sincerly hope that this will negatively impact your company enough that you will consider changing this reactionary policy.
Thank You.

If we all did this in a non obtrusive way, (friend asks what AV should i buy, you say,"Sophos") this could have a huge impact on the offending software companies.
Seems like helping to battle this phantom menace would be a good project for ILM to get involved with. Just leave JarJar out of it this time ;)

Oh well, since Bruce couldn't find time to reply to an email, I don't think I can find time to buy his book ;)
