  3. Google intentionally crippled Firefox on Former Firefox VP on What It's Like To Be Both a Partner of Google and a Competitor via Google Chrome (twitter.com) · · Score: 3, Insightful

They turned Mozilla into Mo$illa by paying them to remove XUL and other features. They cripple competition like Waterfox and Pale Moon by serving up outdated html and give them harder captchas. They even got Microsoft to chromify their browser. I repeat my calls for a truly independent browser foundation that tells Google to get lost.

  4. Over 20 years since IE started coming bundled with Windows in a deeply integrated manner. There will be outbreaks of IE malware for years due to the fact so many buisnesnesses only supported IE as their web browser. The same thing will happen with the widespread adoption of chromium instead of developing multiple independant browsers to ensure web diversity. Now Mo$Illa had been bribed to downgrade their browser we are now in the era of adverbrowsers and will contain more ways to attack your browser due to the constant bloat being added to them. Prepare for the Wannacry decade powered by ChromIE.

  10. Influence the leaks had on this release on Microsoft Launches First Chromium Edge Builds (venturebeat.com) · · Score: 1

With all the leaks ot Edge that occurred it is obvious that they are letting people have it officially after the cat was let out of the bag. If it wasn't for the leaks they would probably wait until //Build/ to release them. My opinion is the Edge isn't for Slashdottters who use Firefox or it's clones, it is for the people who still think the Blue E is the internet. Giving them a half decent browser is better than letting them still use Internet Explorer which hasn't had engine updates for over six years now. With Windows 7 looking to be widely in use after the official end of support date, having Edge available instead of of IE eases the pain of web developers. Getting Internet Explorer off the public internet and only being used in enterprise intranets should be a priority for the web.

  11. Microsoft knows it can get away with it. on Why Aren't People Abandoning Windows For Linux? (slashgear.com) · · Score: 1

Linux on the desktop has been promised on the desktop for over 20 years now. Microsoft knows it can get away with abuse and you accept that abuse by refusing to fix problems in Linux. In fact Windows XP despite being unsupported for five years now still has more market share than Linux. What does that tell you that people would rather use unsupported Windows than Linux.

  16. Stop adding bloat to the specification that just adds more ways for advertrackers to steal your hardware resources. If I was in charge I would go back to HTML4 with just the video tag added..
