Back when Microsoft had to do it we still had 4 major browser engines. Now we are down to 2 and most browsers are Chrome skins. What should really happen is that Chromium and Blink get spun off into a non Google controlled organization so we can have healthy competition on the mobile web. Plus iOS and the remains of Windows mobile should also have browser choices.
The last big blackout on Wikipedia was when SOPA occurred. I think the effectiveness of Wikipedia going down every time something political incident occurs will make it lose it's effectiveness and the copyrighters will just make their own encyclopedia. Wikipedia will still make you an unperson for the crime of being "not notable".
I've been sockpuppeting Wikipedia since 2002, and a proud banned user. The admins, bureaucrats, stewards and arbcon get sadder and more revert happy every year. It's a shame that there is no true open source encyclopedia, because people need one. We need a distributed system, where we don't need to worry about notability so any subject with sources can be covered and that multiple versions are allowed so you can't revert because there will always be an alternative version available.
Respect for banned users, they influence wiki policy even though Wikipedia has a denial policy.
If a single "misconfiguration" can take down a system with thousands of redundant servers then you must see the total incompetence of the Facebook system. Is this who you want to give your data to? Want a "misconfiguration" to leak your data and passwords?
Also perfectly good cpus are getting locked out because of lack of sse2 or 3. Its not just old cpus many embedded processors also are affected. Mozilla too not just Microsoft.
China still has 10% market share for Windows XP. There will still be substantial Windows 7 usage in the 2030s. Businesses wih critical workloads that can’t be rebooted all he time for “updates” means that 7 isn’t going anywhere.
They know people don't want to upgrade their "just works" Windows 7 environment, especially after the pain of having to upgrade from Windows XP just a few years ago, so they will use support extortion and will probably "leak" security holes out to Wannacry's programmers. Their end game is to get everyone on the upcoming "Windows 365" subscription treadmill so they will use the "support protection racket" for Windows 7. They knew exactly what they are doing by releasing it on that date (April 1). Unfortunately promises of the penguins saving us has failed to come every year for nearly two decades now.
If another large security hole opens up after EOL, Microsoft will just say we told you so and tell you go get Windows 10. There WILL be a large security incident a few years from now because too many people are using unsupported systems.
I wonder how much money was paid to not support competing browsers to Chrome. The Chromageddon of 95 percent market share will arrive soon after Microsoft adopts it for Edge and Apple and Mozilla will get killed in the crossfire.
If Microsoft was smart they would make LTSC avaliable to the masses to replace their Windows 7 fleets. But Microsoft will probably let hundreds of millons of Windows 7 machines flounder and we will see more wannacrys instead.
We had the old file manager, early DOS versions and now the calculator. Eventually Microsoft will probably go the Red Hat route and Make the full switch to open source. They already kind of are with Edge soon being based on Chromium.
All resources are now going on to CalculatorOS.
After the whole BitCONNNEEEECCCCTTTT meme.

The sea life won’t eat it I promise.
When adjusted for inflation the Lisa costs more. 256 GB ram will be in celeron laptops a few decades from now.
Also can Slashdot fix their "we value your privacy" notice so it dosen't pop up every few hours?
The downfall of the leader of the mainframe and personal computer is complete.

Still more useful than mining digital chucky cheese tokens. GPUs still double their true value.

By ending Windows 7. A lot of perfectly good computers will be junked and will put a strain on intel and amd for "new" PCs.

One day someone will hack a critical package and we will have a Wannacry level event powered by JavaScript.
Whats with all the js, css, wasm, webgl malware vectors, but hey no more flash right?
Someone tell the flat earthers.

Instead of the whole tulip, we will sell you individual petals. Bitcoin tulips have 100 million petals each.
There's no hidden gems left, the pirates plundered it years ago.
