  1. Was just complaining about autoplaying ads. on Chrome 66 Arrives With Autoplaying Content Blocked By Default (venturebeat.com) · · Score: 1

I always thought they were a supreme waste of bandwidth and energy overall. Hopefully it will block any of those cryptocurrency engines some websites were using.

  2. Isn't lithium supply pretty limited? on Demand For Batteries Is Shrinking, Yet Prices Keep On Going and Going ... Up (wsj.com) · · Score: 2

The price of lithium has skyrocketed in the last few years, so I assume the profit margins went down since the price of batteries didn't go lock step. Lithium batteries are one of the main things keeping EVs from being carbon neutral off the lot and they are just generally pretty bad for the environment. Hopefully graphene batteries come sooner rather than later.

  3. I thought that Yahoo on Yahoo's New Privacy Policy Allows Data-Sharing With Verizon (cnet.com) · · Score: 1

Basically just owns shares of Alibaba at this point as the main source of their value. I mean do they do anything else relevant?

  4. Is one of the stupidest concepts. Delete your shit and go anonymous or something if you're worried about getting cyber bullied. Back in my day there was just real bullying with physical implications. I once saw this guy get picked up in the locker room by a big football player and basically dry humped in front of everyone. That's a little worse than some 12 year old typing the n word a bunch at a bunch of other white kids.

Seriously, dumbest thing ever, and worse, they hurt the environment. I wonder just how much energy has been wasted because of cryptocurrencies? I wonder how many people have had to pay larger electricity bills because of unscrupulous websites and games using their computers to mine, not to mention victims of malware? Stuff needs to be made illegal in its current form. If you're worried about climate change and carbon and all that then getting rid of cryptocurrencies is about the easiest and most effective change that could be made right now. They are all going to zero eventually since they are backed by literally nothing; just hope it happens sooner rather than later... damn tulips.

  7. Shows you how with it and enlightened all those Cannes film people are with their constant onanistic tendencies.

  8. Not the biggest fan. on Ask Slashdot: Should You Tell Your Coworkers How Much You Make? · · Score: 1

I am a contractor at a major telecom, and knowing that there are some people making 50-100% more than me for doing the exact same work has been a source of stress for a little bit. I just try and remind myself I at least didn't come in with that much experience even if I know as much / more than my co-workers now and that it will all work out eventually.

  9. Yay censorship on 'Why YouTube's New Plan to Debunk Conspiracy Videos Won't Work' (vortex.com) · · Score: 2

Nothing like a good ol' call for censorship early in the morning. If we get rid of conspiracy theory videos, might as well get rid of any religious videos. Also, if someone really does find out something and tries to publish it on youtube at least... instantly crushed. :) Maybe one day we'll be like Germany and the US government itself will be threatening fines for unliked information.
