  1. There were better options on Blockbuster Video Now Has Just One Store Left On Earth (apnews.com) · · Score: 3, Interesting

I grew up in Philadelphia and we had a chain of video rental stores around here called West Coast Video. When Blockbuster came around, WCV really stepped up their game with more foreign and rare stuff you couldn't get from Blockbuster. I ended up going there more than Blockbuster.

Then I discovered Movies Unlimited, another store that catered to more obscure stuff. They even rented Laser Discs!

But I do miss video rental stores daily. I think they were great. Some cheese steaks and a DVD from West Coast Video made for a nice cheap date at home.

I was thinking the same thing. You have hardware level access to a PC to the point where you can read RAM in order to get someone's master password from their password manager? Why would you bother? Just install a keylogger instead and you can have all sorts of fun.

  3. Seriously? WTF? As much as I hate to say it, an outbreak of Measles isn't going to convince anti-vaxers to vaccinate their kids. Measles comes and then goes. It's long term health effects aren't seen for years or decades. What will knock some sense in these idiots is if we have a Polio outbreak and only their unvaccinated kids end up in wheelchairs, needing braces, or trapped in an iron lung.

Existing ISPs will do themselves in. As long as you grease the politicians hands at the local level, they'll happily give you a municipal franchise and let you run all the fiber you want.

Thanks, but no thanks, Mr. Gates. My state opted out of Common Core. But it's impossible to buy a math textbook that isn't written for Common Core, so the kids end up getting Common Core whether they like it or not.

Any ISP that tries to impose a fast lane needs to go dark. Immediately. Google, Amazon and every single website on the Internet needs to cut them off with a page that explains how their ISP is screwing them, and they will be changed more for services now. Internet access has no value if you can't get anywhere. Keep this up for a weekend. Then, add a Comcast tax to everyone's bill. You buy anything on Amazon, and you get charged extra, as a separate line item. Same with Netflix. Make everyone aware of what' going on.
