For me it's all about the feeling. Graphics, background music, sound effects, narrating and of course the story line are all part of that. I can love beautiful, near-photorealistic graphics and I can also love simple, cartoonish graphics. What I don't like is graphics that try to be photorealistic but fails to.
Remember that the more you put into details, the more the details you miss will become obvious. I wouldn't care that the water didn't look very realistic in a game where all graphics looks unrealistic, but if the grass and the trees are dead gorgeous, unrealistic water would suddenly become a minus point because it wouldn't fit in.
Basically, if you aren't willing to put major effort into making the graphics look realistic, don't try. Instead aim for some other style, like Prince of Persia, Zelda: Wind Waker or Little Big Planet.
If the government say they did X but the truth is that they instead did Y, if possible it should be exposed that they did Y. Substitute X and Y for anything. Same thing for corporations. Lies are bad, okay? If exposing the lie cause harm then they probably shouldn't had done Y in the first place. If exposing it might teach them to think twice the next time they are about to act against the will of the people, something good has happened. Basically, if they really really NEED to do something unpopular they should go ahead, BUT, they should not lie about it. If they needed it so badly at least they should have strong arguments for it, no? Governments are supposed to serve the people, not themselves or the other way around.
We are already there. Even if they shut down the TPB trackers today, as long as people have access to the.torrent-files in some way, they will continue to work forever as long as there are seeders.
I'd prefer to lose my phone and shell out another $500 then receive a violent beat down at the hands of some street thug.
Why would you want to receive a violent beat down at the hands of some street thug? I'd prefer to just lose my phone and shell out another $500 than receive a violent beat down at the hands of some street thug.
I did finish the Amiga version back in the days also, though I had to cheat a few times by reading the "hint" sections of (paper) computer magazines...
Funny that a project that hasn't had a release since august 2007 and that seem to collaborate by posting patches to a discussion board instead of using vcs branches is chosen for "project of the month" in may 2009... That said, that version (0.72) is still a damn fine piece of software. Let's hope for another release soon.
Illegal is not necessarily the same thing as immoral, wrong, evil, bad.
Maybe the laws are wrong and should be changed? Before that can happen though, this will help people in need of privacy. You can look at it as a kind of civil disobedience.
If I were to setup a new home spare-part-server using software RAID-5 and LVM today, using kernel 2.6.28 or 2.6.29 and I really care about not losing important data in case of a power outage or system crash but still want reasonable performance (not run with -o sync), what would be my best choice of filesystem (EXT4 or XFS), mkfs and mount options?
I'm willing to pay for good enough internet services (like Linux Weekly News for example) though, but this is like a punch in the face. Most of the content in last.fm is fucking user contributed!
I also used to pay for Spotify but I cancelled my account when they suddenly decided to drop just about all independent and small-label bands that they didn't have formal on-paper contracts with. 90% of my crust-punk and power-noise/industrial playlists went red because of that, and they still haven't re-added a single band that were dropped. At the same time they also implemented region-based limits.
Back to CDs I guess... or.. err.. what.cd? I dunno...
Basically it's a standard MP3 with correction delta as a binary blob in the ID3-tag. Was it really that hard to make it interleaved? Even having the correction data as a separate file, like Wavpack does it in its hybrid mode, would be better as it would make it much easier to add the files to MP3-players without using extra tools. This is just stupid. You won't be able to stream it as it's not interleaved and ID3 tags are limited to 256 MB so you can't have a MP3HD-file longer than 35 minutes or so.

Ahh, it's always so comical when patriotic persons (of any country) get overly protective. :)
This would be a perfect program for US customs!
Not that I have travelled to the US though, but I've heard way too many first hand horror stories to not wanting to go there, ever, for any reason.

roll through the gates of hell
Can I call you Bob?
I'm shaking, I'm shaking.
I did. And I recorded it. :-)

Last time I replayed the originals was only about a year ago and they still ARE as good as I remembered them.
I once owned a dog that was smarter than you.
If they ran in MSDOS then they will probably run in DOSBox.
On the top of the DOSBox homepage there is a button with the text "Make A Donation". Click there to pay for the software. :)

But the goats are still cuter.
Fuck you Slashdot for failing to properly support UTF-8. :P "järnvägsstation" or "tågstation".
Nope, in Swedish it's "jÃrnvÃgsstation", or "tÃ¥gstation" (train station).
Yeah, using a proxy is a great way to avoid those blue-dressed Men With Hats.

Nope, it hasn't changed yet, but they are working on it.

Depends on your selection of females.
SCI-support not high on their "to do" list?
Pardon me, I present to you new evidence!
