    my hourly rate would be considered absurdly high by any reasonable advertiser

    You might want to research the going rate for ads per actual purchase (ignoring all clickbots, etc). You may be more competitive than you think!

    Linux is becoming questioned as a server OS.

    I hope you are not suggesting that Windows is a viable alternative. You might need to read up on Windows 10.

    I think the future for Linux could be great if the Unity/Systemd lessons are learned. (Not holding my breath. )

    Your job responsibilities obviously do not include change management. There are a great many organisations (mainly Government entities) for whom 4 Million years is "short term".

    It is, for example, far to short a period to remove all the bugs from a popular Operating System (which shall remain nameless for obvious reasons).

    Multi-platter was always a good idea, I assume it stopped in a desperate attempt to cut costs.

    8" hard drives often had 4 or even 8 double sided platters - and SCSI interfaces! Early 5.25" drives often had two, double sided platters. They desperately needed to access more data with less head movement because they had quite low areal bit density and used floppy-derived stepper motors for head positioning!

    Or maybe Netflix. It has the makings of a great Zombie movie - with Orson Welles as RMS, Vincent Price as Theo, Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee and Kernighan and Richie, Lon Chaney as SCO and Special appearance of Boris Karloff as Bill Gates.

    I am willing to write the screen play (in K&R C) for a considerable fee. Someone else will have to do the CGI.

    No. Its not.

    This statement is a good example of full-on American stupidity and ignorance. It is about as sensible as claiming that swimming is drowning because both involve people being in water, a potentially lethal situation.

    "Social Democratic" parties in Europe are a very mixed bunch. Capitalism has been regulated in Europe since the 1600's with varying degrees of competence. Americans appear to describe Europe's extreme right wing as socialist, having no idea what socialist actually means.

    Unregulated Capitalism is like the "wild west" of the 1800's, governed by Trump. I am sure you will love it when you get it (if you are in Trump's income bracket).
