Trading one monopoly for another makes no sense. Kind of like what we Americans do every four years or so with our Presidents...trading one bad thing for another.
The hydrogen isotopes you describe are used, but they are used as attachments to O2. In other words, Heavy Water: Radioactive and, yes, deadly when inhaled.
Obviously, this poster is at the age where everyone over 28 seems ancient to him.
A little advice: don't rely too much on your intuition of what is obvious. The poster you refer to (me) is between 30 and 40 (I'm not going to say which end of the scale I'm closer to;) ). While this does not make me an elder, it does allow me to state with confidence that my "nuts have dropped" so to speak. There is no water left behind my ears, and I am not viewing the world through rose coloured glasses.
My simple point was -- and is still -- that in general, as people get older, they care less about the newest, latest, hip tech toys.

Therefore, we don't have a system where people read about pre-pre-pre-clinical research like this, show up in the lab and have a grad student start injecting god-knows-what into them.
Yeah, cuz then we'd have Spider-Men, Hulks, and what not running around _everywhere_.;)
or not is immaterial. The simple fact is that as one ages, one loses touch with new technology and advancements for many reasons, most of which have nothing to do with a person's abilities or intelligence. Mostly, people just stop caring about the latest gizmo and care more about things that are really important like family.
But, if you don't believe me try this little test:
Take an iPOD, a Laptop with a wireless card in it, and a wireless access point to a retirement home. Place them on a table right next to an Internet connection of any kind. Now ask if any of the residents can get a song from the iTunes store onto the iPOD.
I'll put dollars to doughnuts you won't find a single resident who can do it. Not because they aren't capable of learning how, but because they really just don't care about that kind of thing anymore.
Mistaking entertainment for news/sports/other is common these days. The human abilities that allow us to imagine wonderful, futuristic technologies are sadly housed in the same brains that often have difficulty distinguishing reality from fantasy. Not to get all "Matrixy" on you, but have you ever dreamed something that you absolutely thought was real? I know I have had dreams that I _swore_ were real, only to eventually realize that they were in fact, dreams. This ease in confusing the real with the unreal is something that is persistent accross cultures and as another poster mentioned, is also what makes it so easy for humans to believe in religious dogma. Humans as a whole are easily duped.
The FCC usually hates it when the service provider starts mandating that only their hardware be used.
We _are_ talking about a Government agency, right? And God knows that no Govt agency has EVER changed policy or regulations to appease a corporation...[rolling eyes]
I also believe that the content should not be regulated. And I might be more inclined to support an FCC that kept the airwaves uncluttered, but as we have seen in the past, once a Government agency is involved in an area, the area quickly goes to hell in a handbag.

Didn't check my info. Sorry.
I'm moving.
ever mentions the fault line that runs along the Mississippi river? Didn't a major quake in the recent past cause the river to run backwards?
(I wonder how many people are going to totally miss the "akin, relative, relativity, Big Bang" jokes... :) )
;)
"Akin" means just "related to", not "the same thing."
Unless the economy happens to be in an investment frenzy, which is cyclical. Just ask the dot-com losers...
"...once I built a dot-com, made it run, brother can you spare a dime?"
it is that 71% of a form of communication originates from a country that tries its damndest to stifle the voice of its people.

Why do you believe that the United States would hate a unified and prosperous Europe?
I mean, when is the last time you heard of a successful business person taking advice from a skid row bum?
And, yes, I know it sounds harsh, elitist, and rude, but it is the truth and we all know it.

The FCC is a sham and should be dismantled.
it was supposed to be funny, but I screwed it up. My delivery was baaaaad.
I meant Ionic Breeze.
Why hasn't someone put a Sonic Breeze type device in for cooling? It is absolutely silent and moves lots of air.
was great!! :)
Holy Shit.
