If I recall correctly, at one time, the US government set the price of gold at $35 per ounce. They also had laws on the book which prevented ordinary citizens from buying and selling gold, except in jewelry, and other items. Don't recall all the ins and outs of this.
Prior to 1980, I worked in a shop that ran DOS/VSE on a VM/CMS machine, can't remember which model of IBM 360 it was though. Under VM/CMS, you could do time sharing. No need for punching up cards.
Stories (plural) of users folding 5.25 floppies to fit into 3.5 in drives? I haven't seen a 3.5 inch floppy in years, much less a 5.25 inch floppy. I am sure there are still some in use, but not enough to be a significant source of stories for IT people. Makes me wonder about the source of these statistics.
I don't doubt that many IT people feel stress, just wondering where the authors of this study got their information. I didn't read the actual study, so maybe it was the author of the story just throwing some stuff in?
Took a class in Fortran programming. Really got going on programming on an IBM 360/45 using a WATFOR compiler. First PC that was mine was an Apple IIe. First PC at work was an IBM PC. Of course, we had access to IBM 360's, 370's and later on, had the run of a PDP 11/70 where we could do our development programming.
Some of us don't purchase our music through iTunes. I noticed that iTunes still sends back the information of a track that has been double clicked to play.
Just wanted to let you know that there are some of us that aren't already being tracked by Apple. I have mixed emotions over this, but not enough to worry about this.
Haven't read through all of the replies yet, but the one thing I did was to get a Cable/DSL Modem router (Linksys).
My daughter and her husband have PC's, and they are hooked up with a cable/dsl modem router, and it saved their tails. Along with up to date virus software.

Later versions of the F4 did have a gun. Because of this experience, the F15 air superiority was designed with a gun.
I still have my slide rule that I used in high school... Oh, wait... I feel so old now

For some reason, as I read another article on the judge's comments, all I could think of was that court room scene in Ghostbuster's II.

Thank you for doing this. Not sure of the accuracy of the calculations, but it was interesting to see this.
OK, the Zombies were a different group, and were never with the Beatles. So, they could not reunite.
I think you mean an EEG, not an EKG.

My understanding is that IBM's big push is in the services area. If that is true, then proprietary software or open source should make no difference.
