EDGE is an upgrade to GPRS providing better data rates, and is not mandated by any of the specs. It's entirely an operator decision to request this from its network vendors, and hence if no operators demand it, no phone providers will build it into the phone.
It is being deployed in some european countries, and I think the AT&T network in the US has it already, so phones will arrive, but slowly
I would earnestly hope that this or any other Presidential administration would have 'total control' over how its employees were spending their budgets. Wouldn't you?
Yeah, all except the ones right at the top of course.
OK, so the OLED part is organic, but the casing will most probably be made of non-recyclable plastic, the board on which the OLED is mounted probably wont decompose and so on.
It's not just about the OLED.
Although to be fair if they're as efficient as the marketing bullshit claims then the energy savings may compensate for the landfills
imagine that eventually the price point would be so that when the colors faded you pitched the old set, bought a new one and thought nothing more of it then if you were upgrading a video game console.
Great, now we're churning out even more consumer waste to put in landfills.

Mostly it was a reference to the crusades, which was started by christians. Other religions are, as you suggest, quite capable of staggering intolerance and I didn't mention them because the parent explicitly stated his faith.
And I have the right to bash anyone I like thank you very much. It's freedom of speech. It may be misguided or wrong, but it is my right.
Anyone who is a Christian will quickly realize that our beliefs tell us only about goings-on in Heaven and Earth, and contains no references to other planets or other extra-terrestrial life forms
Soooo. If those other planets do have life, and that life has a religion with a god, is that the same god or a different one?
And more to the point, whose God is better? Yours or theirs These are the questions that need answering by Christians
Yes I skimmed the story, and I was pleasantly surprised to see an advert for IBMs linux solutions halfway down the main body of the text. That's intelligent ad placement at it's best:)
Land line is also good for your home's alarm and tracking where a 911 call is made from
IIRC the FCC have requirements in place for the wireless operators to provide the location of a 911 call being made from a cellular phone to within about 20m.
Should be coming into force fairly quickly, although I'm not sure about the exact timescales.
The argument about profit is good, but the problem is that in the energy supply industry the business has no ability to stop providing energy to unprofitable areas (which in this case may be the areas which need it most).
I assume that there is a requirement on the energy industry to provide service to close to (if not precisely) 100% of the people in a geographical area
Sorry, but I call bullshit on this one.

How can this make you happy?

But Sci-Fi CAN be an inspiration to build something new.
And apologies for the tree hugging bit.
Science fiction is escapism from reality.
*cough*Arthur C Clarke*cough*GEO Satellites*cough*Rabid tree hugging hippy*cough*
In other news, Siemens release a bunch of new phones, one of which has a 1.3 Megapixels camera.
Linky.
Funny? FUNNY?
Damn people. Cheesy, Corny and blindingly obvious I can understand but modding this guy +5 funny???
Well, I wouldn't have put it quite like that but I agree with your sentiment. /me pats the troll on the head
The author gives his justification for not including Outlook 2003 in the FAQ at the end of the aarticle.
The main justification being that:
Outlook 2002 is fully featured enough to compete, and
Most users with windows will be using outlook 2002 so it is a useful reference.
Get down of that high horse buddy and relax a little

then there is the 15 second layman appraisal from viewing bits of media coverage
:/
clearly, mydoom is an attack by linux zealots in the mind of the average layman
You're kidding right? The layman doesn't even know what linux is

My phone has done this for years on wap search engines, although admittedly it's not quite the same thing, it might be prior art
this isn't funny anymore...
But mobile phones are starting to include old Spectrum games and other classics, either built in, or downloadable for a price.
So the business case for protecting this IP is still very much alive...
AMD share price goes through the roof
I didn't realise The russians space program was so involved m$ products...
here
Of course they did. It's not like they're going to say "well thanks, I think we've researched it enough now. Let's head down to the welfare office"
</cynicism>
At one point they say
"have sent a key for deciphering coded information over a record 14.5 miles of open space between two mountains in Germany"
And then they say
The keys, which use quantum cryptography, were transmitted as photons of light along optical fibres.
So which is it?
