My guess is that it's probably more accurate to divide down than multiply up when measuring mass.
What I'd like to know is how they measure the kilogram, since it's a base unit. Distance can be easily measured using a light speed constant; Newtons aren't as constant as light due to gravitational shifts.
i haven't upgraded my copy of iTunes yet, so I haven't had a chance to try out this new service... but i highly doubt there will be anything other than "mainstream" music available; which is quite sad, this is a fantastic opportunity for apple to distribute music from underground/indie artists.
i'd be well chuffed if i found anything on there from the Metropolis (industrial, ebm, goth) label.
Uhm, I recently purchased HL (the platinum pack with all the spinoff addons) because I never really had a chance to in the past 5 years. I had a blast playing the actual game.
umm, if i recall the film (its been a while since i last watched it) the red pill is a tracking device so they can see where in the matrix (and maybe the reactor field) the target is.. and so reboot him out of the matrix.
it might also hold some kind of drug effect to raise the awareness of the taker to the matrix (as seen when neo has taken the pill and watches the mirror shards melt back into one)...
I haven't read the article either... so i don't know what the bloke who wrote it thinks about how the pill works.
All these comments about this film being "yet another matrix rip off"... ever considered the fact that the matrix effects are a direct take on some of the eastern greats? Films *like* Iron Monkey and Crouching Tiger were around long before the matrix.
This film is just another western interpretation of eastern film styles. And like 90% of hollywood productions now it's going to be anther fun popcorn flick.
The official word from Apple, that I've heard, is all point releases are at a cost, all point-point releases are free updates - a huge change from Apple's old way of doing things, but there you go, welcome to the brave new world where Apple actually needs to make money (who can blame them).
AFAIK, the finder was re-written in cocoa for Jaguar, but not fully multi-threaded. Which is why it's faster than the Puma version.
actually when a toolkit creates a window it offers simple "hints" that the window manager picks up and manipulates.. there is very little inter-process communication between apps and the WM. So it would be rather pointless to force a TK to produce the window borders - which would also create problems with continuity between windows - GTK window decorations would probably look much different to KDE ones to any other TK out there.
As for rewriting... I don't know about QT, but GTK+ runs on many levels, at the bottom level is a graphics independat layer that can run on anything from Win32 to the Framebuffer to X to embedded drivers. All the widget elements on top don't notice, nor care.
X11 is built to be modular like this - although the current Xfree86 isn't quite (in fact it's actually very monolithic), which is why keithp want's to fork and make a more modular implementation of X11.
Indeed. My Palm Vx is still going strong after many years of faithful service. Sometimes I ponder upgrading to a newer model, but those Ti's with the hidden keyboard just look plain irritating to me.
yeah; pity it looks like utter crap anywhere other than your monitor (it was designed as a pixel font, not as a print font (unlike times, tahoma, etc)).
hmm, strange, the D300 i tried at Fry's last week had a lense with a focus ring... as did the D10 next to it (which also worked on the 300).
albeit, you need to set the camera to MF mode first...
focus rings are part of the lense, so if the lense doesnt have one, you cannot do it. good AF lenses do have them.
uhmmm.. XP's 2k mode is just for the widget set; makes it look like "classic" instead of luna.
No functionality lost. Performance and efficiency gained. All good.
Well, being an Englishman myself I for one can't stand warm beer. And, erm, no other Englishmen that I know can stand it either.
Going for some lewd joke are we? Involving pee?

Maybe I'm missing something here...
Pfft, everyone knows Guiness is best served cold! Where do you live, the Congo?
Lots of them, apparently. ;)
and, er, in France.. which, i believe, is where the Bidet in question was first invented. Bidet being french for "Cleaning your arse", or somesuch.
apple are providing cables to allow you to plug a firewire/firewire-usb2 connector into the new ipod, without the need for the dock - as seen Here.

which is why the classical station is the best one in GTA3 :D

It's apparently some snazzy new P2P protocol, hot on the coat-tails of Gnutella. I suspect the DMCA/RIAA folks will try to destroy it shortly.

Hmm, I seem to remember seeing these on "Tommorrow's World" some years ago; exact same invention, and probably the same inventor.. I don't recall.
11 and 11.. in bin that would be 3 and 3, no?
im sure you meant '10 and 10'..
