Not only did they manage to tell horror stories from the monsters point of view, but they also created a cosmology that united all the points of view into a single setting. Granted it bulges a bit at the seams, but overall it manages to contain everything. They did work hard both on systems and settings. The rules leave a bit to be desired, but no system is perfect and that's why GMs were invented. I'd say that Whitewolf's efforts were derivative in the sense that they were inspired by some of the trends in horror and fantasy literature at the time they created WOD, but that's the same as saying all fiction is derivative. The poster who made the point about packaging the stuff up and selling it to gullible goths is missing the point of role playing. You and your buddies can make of it what you want. The lines for this movie at theaters across the country will consist of little but scrawny, pasty-faced goth kids who think they're actually vampires. Compared the Auschwitz-chic of these little twigs, geeks look like Charles fucking Atlas.

So hang out in front of your local cinema on September 19th, geeks -- you'll finally have the chance to be on the giving end of an asswhipping!
