What do you do with fvwm that you can't do with gnome? I used fvwm for quite a few years from about 15 years ago, and i can't say i miss it.
Well, I for one can run it on my hopelessly antiquated computer:)
For me, the question is really: What can you do with Gnome that you can't do with FVWM ?
Yeah ? Interesting. On my setups (Firefox 3.0.1 on Slackware & Tiger, Safari 3.1.2 on Tiger), closing the tab is sufficient to make it go away. YMMV, obviously.
England is the most conservative and Windows-fixated backarse of Europe.
No, that would be Denmark. (Yeah, we suck over here. Almost as much as the Dutch;)

Interestingly I can honestly say that I only know about one person who hasn't embraced the Fox. Who the hell are all those people ?
you just put steam in offline mode, and then you can play every game you want - offline.
Right up to the point when Steam decides that there's an update that you absolutely can't live without, and forces you to sit through 100's of megabytes of download before you can play. That what i personally hate about Steam anyway. Steaming pile of crap.
He's flamebaiting people who are as protective of their religion as American Evangelicals are of theirs.
He's not American, he's Dutch, in case you didn't notice.
You don't see Christians or Jews go apeshit every other minute here in Europe. Muslims, all the frakking time.
But I was told that I could listen to music.... at a reasonable volume... from nine to eleven so I don't see why I should turn down the volume because I enjoy listening... at a reasonable volume, from nine to eleven.
They did just that that at Copenhagen Central Station at the back entrance, to keep junkies and alcoholics away.... and it works pretty good too.
Classical, that is. Not Celine Dion... is that even legal ? X-/
You still need a old fashioned IDE (ie non-usb) floppy drive if you want to install that incredible innovative top-of-the-line OS from Redmond, on a SATA disk.....
The interface is "okay", if youre on a Unix box with X windows, where you can dedicate a whole virtual desktop to Gimp only.
But try Gimp on an MS Windows box. Or, no, don't try Gimp on a Win box.. You can argue that this is partly Windows's fault, it may very well be, but...:)
Oh yeah, it'd be nice if you could tell the toolboxes to stay on top, instead of getting overlapped by the image window. Perhaps you can, i havent really looked into it. But in those few minutes i spent with it yesterday, that kinda annoyed me.
Linux needs to focus on progressive discoverability - Only expose as much of the interface, programs, and power as necessary. Keep it all in reserve for people who want it, but don't constantly throw it and the millions of settings right in a new user's face.
No. Some distributor, perhaps Redhat, should do that. (actually i thought they were already there)
Open Source is all about choice, you know. I know i'd hate having that taken away from me:)
Please, people, you can't blame Microsoft for SoBig.
You have to MANUALLY (no MIME exploits, no nothing) execute a file YOU HAVEN'T ASKED FOR AND YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IS !!
Jeez, only fucking idiots would get hit by SoBig.
SoBig happened to target Windows systems only. But nothing would prevent me from writing a totally identical version, which would do exactly the same thing, on a Linux system. Or BSD, or Solaris.
Don't blame the operating system here. People who executes unknown files, particularly unrequested files received by mail, should be hung by the balls in the nearest telephone pole.

Actually it does, at least in my Firefox tab :)

Why don't we all just go there and ask them ? >;D

Don't blame Linux, it's just a kernel anyway.
Your parents probably shouldn't be running a preview release in the first place ...
