    What do you do with fvwm that you can't do with gnome? I used fvwm for quite a few years from about 15 years ago, and i can't say i miss it.

    Well, I for one can run it on my hopelessly antiquated computer :) For me, the question is really: What can you do with Gnome that you can't do with FVWM ?

    Yeah ? Interesting. On my setups (Firefox 3.0.1 on Slackware & Tiger, Safari 3.1.2 on Tiger), closing the tab is sufficient to make it go away. YMMV, obviously.

    you just put steam in offline mode, and then you can play every game you want - offline.
    Right up to the point when Steam decides that there's an update that you absolutely can't live without, and forces you to sit through 100's of megabytes of download before you can play. That what i personally hate about Steam anyway. Steaming pile of crap.

    I never understood how they could include such a blatant hole, and call it a feature. Only Microsoft ..... :/

    You still need a old fashioned IDE (ie non-usb) floppy drive if you want to install that incredible innovative top-of-the-line OS from Redmond, on a SATA disk .....

    That was XP though, havent tried 2003.

    The interface is "okay", if youre on a Unix box with X windows, where you can dedicate a whole virtual desktop to Gimp only.

    But try Gimp on an MS Windows box. Or, no, don't try Gimp on a Win box .. You can argue that this is partly Windows's fault, it may very well be, but ... :)

    Oh yeah, it'd be nice if you could tell the toolboxes to stay on top, instead of getting overlapped by the image window. Perhaps you can, i havent really looked into it. But in those few minutes i spent with it yesterday, that kinda annoyed me.

    Linux needs to focus on progressive discoverability - Only expose as much of the interface, programs, and power as necessary. Keep it all in reserve for people who want it, but don't constantly throw it and the millions of settings right in a new user's face.

    No. Some distributor, perhaps Redhat, should do that. (actually i thought they were already there)
    Open Source is all about choice, you know. I know i'd hate having that taken away from me :)

    Don't blame Linux, it's just a kernel anyway.

    Please, people, you can't blame Microsoft for SoBig.

    You have to MANUALLY (no MIME exploits, no nothing) execute a file YOU HAVEN'T ASKED FOR AND YOU DONT KNOW WHAT IS !!

    Jeez, only fucking idiots would get hit by SoBig.

    SoBig happened to target Windows systems only. But nothing would prevent me from writing a totally identical version, which would do exactly the same thing, on a Linux system. Or BSD, or Solaris.

    Don't blame the operating system here. People who executes unknown files, particularly unrequested files received by mail, should be hung by the balls in the nearest telephone pole.
