What happens in the US is not the faith of this planet. Besides who would go back to blue screens after the taste of sweet freedom? Change take time, but change happens.
I do web development myself and I find that plain Mozilla is just about all I need (together with periodical checks to see that msie is doing what it's supposed to).
I never cared to install Netscape 6.x but as far as I have undestood it's just some commercial extras glued on to Mozilla. Of course if you mean Netscape 4.x I see what you mean, but really; old netscape is a pain in the ass with alot of what is now considered standard and I honestly wish it would be put out of duty by now.
Side note: my internet bank finally made it and switched to supporting the new Netscape/Mozilla and even Konqueror (Although Konqueror crashes:-P, bad Java). Hurrah!
Yah...just delete the favorites and clean up your registry, find those other files in which it saves your precious cache before you even start to bring out the heavy gear to ride of what actually makes up some 30 percent of your operating system unless of course you're running mac in which case you're probably totally right.
Bah, I'd say that with AOL/Real/Netscape at least you have the option NOT to install their shitty software.
Everybody just wine about it makes them look bad when somebody stands up for something and how they just care about getting "the job done" with "the right tool for...". What the fuck are all these people loosing their time on slashdot for?
The best tool I found so far is GNU Emacs and I don't give a shit if that makes me look like a nut. It wins on merit and I'm happy that it's written by people who care about something else/more than getting the job done.
Principles is just so hush hush within this community...bah.
And don't get me started on the people complaining about loosing the desktop war. There are no winners in war. And if there were I'd say it were those who choose whatever they're comfortable with. I know what I prefer...
Also...
As a poor patentholder you have no chance to make money as the big fish will only wait you out until you cannot prolongue your patent cause you're broke. Legal or illegal is just a wording with regard to some obscure patent law which wont protect you unless you have the money. I say down with patents. The whole world seem to believe that the only way business can be made is through screwing everyone everywhere. Everybody should use open standards and concentrate on making a better product instead. Obviously it's way too hard to make a good product instead of suing to the left and right.
God damn corporate miffos!

And a very good point you made... I never owned a mac but if I did I would be happy too for being able to have linux running on it in a few years when history repeat itself.
I just tried the blender plugin and it managed to freeze my computer. A "close blue screen experience" that just tought me all over again => plugins are bad for you! (and me)
No the point is that most windows installers (installers in windows) wont release you unless you happen to have a window you can alt + tab to. Whereas most windowmanagers in linux can get you out of trouble. If you think about it the windows installers even ask you to shut down other programs not to interfer with their installer...wtf?! That's bullshit and we know it. I admit it's still rude though.
Nope...alt + left mouse click moves that staroffice install window in most windowmanagers that I'm aware of, then you can happily resize to your hearts content. Now try that with you Windows9x/2000/XP:-P
Solaris is painfully stable...Ok, so it hasn't got all the hip stuff that the average linux distro has, big deal.
I had to reboot a solaris box once and I don't even count the numerous times I have to kill those shiny w2k boxes at school. Actually I have yet to find something that windows does better.
The only thing windows actually got going is driver support, yup!
I have to put up with w2k, solaris and linux on a daily basis and there's no doubt in my mind what I prefer. I don't care if linux never conquers the desktop cause it allready conquered mine and I'm not particulary interested in what you are running to get your work done. It's no big mystery that we who happen to prefer the unix layout to the windows one tend to see the windows operating system in it's different incarnations for what it really is - one huge pile of shit.

Language is dynamically changing. It evolves. You should thank CmdrTaco and his kind for the fact that you're not still writing your posts in latin. I guess you don't give a damn about broken latin, do you?
How do english people ever get anything done when they are so preoccupied with finding errors in each others grammar? Surely there must be an english teachers newsboard somewhere where you could all get together because the rest of us just don't give a damn!
Antitrust this and that...I'm sick and tired of it. I've been punishing Microsoft for over 2 years now by not using their crappy software at all and the only reason they haven't noticed is because you people still use their crapXP(tm). So instead of wining about M$ choosing their own "punishment" to further extend their monopoly just take a stand today (no not next monday) and throw their shit away, go join a project and live happily ever after.
Side note: How come they never made a version of Monopoly (the game) ? That would be awesome - Microsoft Monopoly(tm). Haha:)
Anybody that goes to court over this should just claim insanity since I'm pretty sure that would put you right off. There's _no_ reason to link to their site
Aaarrgh, what are those whitedressed guys doing here?! Keep that shirt away...nooooOO
Slack is not going anyware. If by definition you are dead from the moment you fall asleep until you wake up than I suppose Slack is dead since it just released 8.0 (åtta) and is as current as anything else. So now it's in for a small nap before next release...big deal. And all this shit about package management. Slack has package management, the tools are called installpkg and removepkg and together with a wonderful tool called checkinstall I really don't see why we have rpm...What's wrong with doing a ldd if you seem to be missing something?
hahaha :)
now THAT was funny!

Haha...that's hilarious...It's nice to see that journalists all over the world take pride in their research.

Who cares, allready wasted all my karma
All I want to know is what the fuck the first screenshot was all about. The one with qnx on it :-P.
I am, but at least I don't uninstall with rm -rf :-P
Handrolled distro?
/gnome -- yeesh, that's just not right!

The "append" is specific to lilo.conf.
on the commandline you'd just be putting "mem=nopentium" and that goes for grubs menu.lst as well.
I'm touched...
Well said!
