Might not have been faulty encoding - instead, maybe the previous renter swapped discs the one that Uncle Larry bought as a gift from Europe didn't work.
Blockbuster might be calling you next.
an increase in speed 3 ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE and your first comment is about its size?? compare it to the size of 1000 of today's.... and depending on the heat sink requirements (or lack thereof), it might be right in line with today's CPUs.
I've had Creative's Nomad Jukebox 3 (20G) for almost a year now. It's about the size of a portable CD player, so it's bigger than an Ipod. I don't see it's size as a problem, but the biggest drawback is the interface - it's a bit clunky, doesn't have a fast response, and navigating for a song isn't as easy as an Ipod. That's why I think Ipod is the standard - they produced an outstanding and compact product from the beginning.
Quick!!! Get screenshots of CNN!! They're doing it in practically every article! For example, right now on the main page you read Separated twins' condition upgraded, but when you go to the story it reads: Separated Egyptian twins' condition upgraded. I don't know about you, but weren't they Libyan twins last week??!!
assuming you're only running word. i can think of a number of scenarios where a computer crash could lead to death - think hospitals, nuclear reactors, traffic lights.... sure, fail-safe options should be designed in, but that may not always be the case.
in other news:
Upon reading the SCO release, the DMA justified its stance in getting the Do Not Call registry overturned by stating "if we only lost $1 in sales from each customer on the list of 50 million, we would lose part of our competitive advantage."
-or-
"we consider it unfair to remove 50 million potential sales from each product we have to offer."
How did granny prove she only used a Mac, or only a Mac during the monitoring period? Do you suppose they just took her word for it or would the logs reveal relevant info?
If you can only sell Linux with an indemnification program only the Big Boys can do it and that is not something I want to see.
But it's a temporary thing until this gets run out of court. I understand your point - I just think the increase in the community's confidence in Linux due to HP's stand overshadows any large-vendor affiliation side effect.
Dammit. I broke the 3-syllable limit. I won't do it again, I promise.
True, but time is money. Having to build and/or launch a replacement may not be feasible. Take, for example, the building sequence of the space station. You may not be able to continue construction if you are missing a key component...
Put the people in modern versions of the Apollo or Gemini craft
and land with a thud. i guess if it's functional, that's what matters, but nonetheless, descending with a parachute seems so primitive.
at 5k+ mph, do you really think debris will tend to fall away more if you're flying heads up? i assume you mean to do gravity, but i think the effect is neglible at speed.
My undergrad was in BS in Mech Engr, but I'm 4 classes away from a MS in Comp Engr. Unfortunately, I thought the program would be very challenging (especially since I didn't have a background in computers), but so far it seems that the school is more of a diploma mill. The upside: my employer reimburses me for all my fees provided I pull C's, which ain't too hard to do since I the program is not that difficult (read: much easier than my undergrad).
What's my point? Not sure that I have one. Just have a good idea of why you want to go to grad school. If it's to land a better job, then you might not care how difficult the degree is. I wanted a bit of satisfaction of having made it through a challenging program. I'm not getting that.
MBA: do like meetings and answering emails (MBA) or do you enjoy getting lost in the zone for a few hrs while banging away on a project?

Is that a word? How about brewed? Hate to nit, but .... aw... nevermind.

1. Find a napkin or piece of paper.
2. Grab a pencil or a pen.
3. 128*4900/192
That's a good ballpark answer.

Oh. They weren't? My mistake.
so you compile your program, and start testing. you find a bug. do you call it a product failure too?
the apollo 1 fire happened during simulation (testing, training). not a launch failure.
would that be the hot air balloon sprite that went up and to the right, over and over again?
less of a question of "can it rendezvous", more of "will it be allowed to". it's pretty safe to assume the answer is no in both cases.

802.11g claims 54Mbps - how much faster do you need? hell, 11b is 11Mbps. that's still faster than most people's internet access.
the speed is where it needs to be (for now). i am very interested in getting a signal that doesn't crap out when i go to the other side of the house.
anyone got a link for a comparison of AP brands vs. range? comments on the linksys signal booster?
they had computers in the first millennium? huh, i thought all that happened at the end of the 2nd. :P
yeah, and i suppose you believe taco's lawyer will be breaking into your house to patch your shirt if you cut a hole in it.

Engineers knew the boosters were being operated outside of their specifications.
Huh? Please don't tell me you're talking about the SSMEs operating at 104%. See item A.3. O'wise, what performance specs were being violated?
chill out, at least they're not going after you pr0n....
The library also lends out CDs.
It is the same thing.
