I have and it's a tad different then you are portraying it.

I don't find people sharing like you suggest, but in fact a cut throat atmosphere that rivals what I see in the USA. The so called communism in China led to the demise of religion and spirtuality. After Mao died, the void was replaced with a very capitalistic love of money that is almost a religion to many of the people.

China might overcome America, but not for the reasons you suggest... but instead because they are incredibly determined, strong willed, and out to prove something to the world.

The people I am talking about in my post here are the "social elite" that live in the cities... not the poor people in the countryside... the poor people have enough to worry about keeping themselves alive. It's the people in the cities which are like this.

The government in China might be in theory communist run, but the beat of the nation is a bit different... like a repressed nation of blood thirsty, cut throat capitalists.

Say I want exclusive access to univerity periodicals or different studies, etc.. I'd be willing to pay a few dollars to get high quality results without having to fliter through lots of useless or low quality / unoffical sites and material.

I think it could be done for a niche group of information that's not easy (or impossible) to get from a google like search.

I find this program to hold vast potential, plus it's a ton of fun to set up and I find my productivity increases a lot when I use this shell. The sad part is that due to less and less interest and demand the company is finding it difficult to support further development. If any one is interested, download away, install, and get on the yahoo message forum and yack away. The support is excellent and the guys at Leaf really care and try to help!

My cable provider limits my bandwidth at my modem. If I want to share that bandwidth what does it matter? I'm paying a premium for an upgraded plan for more bandwidth, if I want to use that with more than one IP after my modem I think I should be able to do that.

I understand if my one modem could suck up all the bandwidth in the area... but I am limited.

And they focus much to much on 802.11b and neighbor sharing in that article. I have an 802.11b hub and use it to share my connection with the PCs in "my" house, and I think that's what most people do.

I guess I'm lucky though. I actually asked if I am allowed to use more than one IP and my company (Chater Pipeline) told me it was ok. Now if only the other companies could get a clue...

The view of putting multiple columns of large icons for me to sort through and select is nothing but cumbersome for me. I'll take a long list of extension prone filenames over that in most cases. Not saying that there isn't a better way, just that at least *some* people do prefer to look at extensions today rather than icons.

Icons are pretty... but far too often confusing.
