    If the CEO was running a Warez server the Sys-admin would have no authority to shut him down. It may be 'the companies' but it's not the sys-asmin.

    The company or organization should have some sort of system to doll out responsiblities. Either the sys-admin has the authority to make policy decisions or he dosn't.

    The responsiblity rests with the management.

    I don't really think this is going to take off. We already have tons of diffrent ways to emit light. I doubt the cost diffrential of these lights would really be less then the loss from not being able to use 2.4ghz devices.

    I mean it's not like everyone is going to go out and get rid of their old lights.

    With a florecent light you go from zero back to the full brightness and back down 60 times a second, whereas a incadecent light will from like 100% to 99%... There is a change, but i wouldn't really call it a 'flicker'.

    The book isn't being returned to the stories, it's being 'cycled' through. Scientologiests buy the book, then ship it themselves to the publisher, who sends them back to the bookstories to be sold again. So the book cycles through without needing to be remade.

    If you've been given responsibility of managing the networks and systems then you have been given the rights to stop whatever you see fit.

    An admin's job is to make sure the network works smoothly within the parameters of it's use. The admin can't change the parameters of use. Unless he can get the school to change it's policy

    Yes, it's kind of fun to be treated as a witch doctor by certain less educated people.

    And by 'less educated' I assume you mean 'less educated in computers'. If you were truly educated you wouldn't have been taken by Carr auto group in such an obvious scam. but, obviously people who are well educated in the feild of computers are smarter and more important then anyone else. right?

    Ok, so maybe the p2p apps don't provide much 'educational value', but shouldn't teachers be given a little leeway as far as what they do on their work computers?

    As far as legality goes, well, that's not a problem with p2p software itself is it? after all "guns don't kill people...". By banning P2p software outright. You're no better then the RIAA or MPAA or Mr. Fritz Hollings.

    Finally I'm not actually sure that having mp3s, etc, is illegal, only the act of transferring them to others is. Not sure about that though.

    Anyway, if you can't write policy don't. Find a technical sollution. Like more bandwidth.

    Look, I'm as much for free speech and stuff as the next guy, but this is a pretty clear case of trademark infringement, and the disclaimer at the top is tiny.

    Simply calling people who actually get confused 'stupid' is not a very good reason for keeping the domain.

    Getting a site like "aboutlsulaw.com" or something, with a bigger disclaimer would be better.

    Hopping on this dude's side just because his site more compatible (but less attractive IMO) is not really that legitimate.

    I realize that copyright, patent, and trademark law are taken to far a lot, but this is a perfectly legitimate use, IMO.

    Palestinians aren't citizens. They don't want to be citizens of Israel

    The only thing I know about what "they" want is that it isn't consistant. I'm sure there are lots of Palestinieans who would like to be Israli citizens, and there are lots who would like to kill every Israli. That's not the point. The point is that they are a problem and the Israli government hasn't been able to implement a resonable plan to solve it in 50 years. Some people have claimed that their particular form of government is part of the problem.

    It depends on the length. But when you try to run it through all the existing telephone system you are limited to 64k without any A/D conversions.

    When the phone system was invented, there was no 'theoretical' limit to the quality, since it was all annolog (I mean, not counting the physical limitations of the wire, which is pretty high)

    Once you start digitizing (at that rate) everything you're going to loose a lot of information.

    That's a pretty big 'aside' isn't it? Actually I've heard that the Knesset's structure is part of the problem, power is so tenuous that no stays in power long enough to solve the 'problem', neither the left nor right can do what they really want.

    This is another thing the law should not address. In fact, I'm actually rather surprised about the source code provision, which basically makes it impossible to sell proprietary programs, because some coder might well take the code, alter it, and release the alteration under the GPL. So, the law actually is producing conditions in which proprietary code is *effectively* banned even if it isn't explicitly banned.

    What the hell are you talking about. You can download the source to lots of microsoft products, but that dosn't mean you can alter them and release them under the GPL anymore then you could release your favorite books under the Free Documentation License because you can "see the words"

    There's a program called 'ps2rate' that will change the actual hardware speed of the mouse sampling, up to 80. It feels really werid at first, but once you get used to it it's just soo smooth (this is in windows).

    I'm to lazy to give up my USB optical mouse, though :P.

    two things, 1, record the image of the screen before the game starts. When the user hits the panic button, the image would be displayed in the game. Then minimize the game, that way the boss won't see a flash of the game, and the computer would still be useable if the boss does more then just walk by.

    3) SCSI allows you more drives - which means you have as much disk space as a slower IDE in 2 SCSI faster drives.

    Which is easily aliviated by getting $20 IDE controllers. Hell, my last drive came with its own controler card (due to size)

    I mean, just how many drives do you need?
