Me, too. His parents must love him more than mine love me. The only games on my phone are Blackjack, Mastermind, and a Pong clone. And I had to buy it myself.
That's because you, like most everyone on Slashdot, are 46 and still living in their basement.
I have a "local" coffee shop just 1/2 block from my house - and three Starbucks that are also within walking distance. I hardly ever choose the "local" shop. Why? They are hardly ever open! Like its Sunday, 4pm and my wife and I walk over there only to find out they are closed for some reason. Then, we walk to Starbucks. Its a lot easier just to go to Starbucks. For what I get, Starbucks is better. Plus while both stores have WiFi, Starbucks has T-Mobile hot spot which means that I can pay one price and use WiFi at any starbucks whereas the "local shop" has some special Wifi that costs more and can only be used there (when they are open which is hardly ever). Finally, during the election they had Bush signs up, so that sold me on Starbucks once and for all.
I think the difference is that current news outlets give everyone the same gossip and trivia whereas Googlezon/EPIC (as described in the film) give people personalizedtrivia and gossip. The larger point the film is trying to make is that if everyone has to hear the same trivia and gossip, said trivia and gossip must therefore be more important.
For example, if J. Lo gets a new hairdo, its news. If Bob next door gets a haircut, its not news. In the new Googlezon world, it becomes news to the folks who care about following his life and for those few people (perhaps just his mom, sister, and best friend), he beats out J. Lo in the fashion page.
I dispute your statement about it being inevitable that someone will write viruses. It would have been trivial to write a virus for the Apple Newton, but no one ever did.
What happens if you buy a real building and get caught selling drugs? The government can confiscate your building. How is that different from getting caught cheating in the game?
I'll answer my own question: the game probably doesn't have the same kind of due process that western countries have in RL. Perhaps if he was banned from the game and therefore lost his island, he might be able to sue in a real court for a financial loss if the game operators banned him without a good reason. (i.e. not following their own policies, etc.)
I'm sure you remember when Apple's customers dropped them so they could buy computers from Power Computing. I think what he means is that currently you are paying extra $$$ for the nice industrial design of a Mac, and also not getting the support we would like.
So, suppose you could buy a less expensive computer that didn't have the nice industrial design, but did run OS X. Also, it had a better warranty and better support than Apple gives. Yes, this would cause me to drop Apple like a hot potato. I have only used Macintoshes except during the time that Power Computing was in business. Back then, I bought Power Computing for me, and for other Macs at my company.
If Apple is going to license their OS, they better make sure they are prepared to compete in the hardware world.
An advanced degree is either a Master's degree or a PhD. I have a Master of Science Research in Experimental Psychology.
Experimental Psychology is a branch of psychology that is centered on scientific research into psychology (as opposed to clinical practice.) It has nothing to do with creation science.
Incidentally, we could avoid a lot of accidents altogether if we could get drunk drivers off the road--about forty percent of traffic fatalities in the States have alcohol as a contributing factor.
I would invite you to check out some of the articles at motorists.org (National Motorists Association) on DWI myths.

One of the things they point out is that alchohol is listed as a contributing factor if anyone related to the accident has had *anything* to drink. So for example, a passenger who was not driving who blows 0.08 on a BAC causes the accident to be listed as part of your 40%.
Yes, people who are driving drunk should not be on the road, but in the US today, I think we've gone overboard on this issue.
Actually, I bought a PowerBook 160 which was very similar to the 180 except that it had a passive matrix screen.
I can't really comment on the System 7.0 vs. 7.1 issue and 91 vs. 93. I just know that if Atari had still been making the ST in 1993 I wouldn't have even looked at the Mac.
I remember the old Leisure Suite Larry games had questions you'd need to be 20 or so to know the answers to but that was pre-internet.
Wasn't that just a take off on Leather Goddesses of Phobos (Infocom) that required you to assert your age (over 18) before it would enter "lewd description" mode?
You can't save the world in the original Missile Command.
Have your little brother knock the power plug out of the wall right before you lose.

When the Woz was using his blue-boxing skills to call all over Asia and Euorpe for free in the 60's,
70s.
My wife bought some Wolfgang Puck soup in a can. It was awful. I hope that his coffee is better than that.

Yes, I do. However, the countries that don't have extradition treaties with the US are mostly ones I wouldn't choose to live in.
Do you know which countries these are?
Your best option may be to father a child in Argentina.
Plus the flash animation works far better as part of a pitch for venture capital.
So, how do you have a democracy without a free press to keep the populace informed of what their leaders are doing?
I don't know, but we seem to be doing that in the US right now.

Do you honestly think they can't or won't extradite you if you don't pay your tax?
You'd think differently if you had a few semesters of the kind of experimental design and statistics that psychologists use.
The scientific riguor used in many psychological studies is every bit as thorough and valid as that used in biology or chemistry.
Stop describing your own desk.

Thanks for making my point.
...so you're against people having more sex? And you're afraid watching TV will cause people to have more sex?
I think it might be a good thing if people had more sex, so long as it is safe sex.

IBM: Had one rogue division that used Intel chips.
Apple: Standardized on IBM's PowerPC architecture 10 years ago (but made sure their old pals at Motorola were cut in on the deal).
Probably because he might get up there, chicken out, and then have to go back to prison.
(He went to prison for the first stunt and my guess is that the repeat offense would carry a longer sentance.)

I wouldn't exactly call the C-64 a "console". It was a real personal computer in a sense that the Atari 2600 wasn't (but the Atari 800 was).
You're right. I was arguing mainly based on memory, not on looking up actual facts. I remember the 68030 being current on that time on PowerBooks.
Some features from System 7.1 include the Fonts folder, QuickTime, and also the Text Services Manager.
However, you are correct.
