Most of the Sikhs I have met were clean and well groomed. Most terrorists have been less clean, less well groomed and tended to dine on scorpions in caves. The also seemed to mutter antiamericanisms under their breath and refered to us as silver-tounged white devils.
and when I scan a photo with a digital copier the result is a compressed jpg - it's still a digital copy. just not a perfect one. it's a copy, it's digital. what more do you want?
It's Not a copy, it's an interpretation or representation. If it truely were a copy it would not be compressed.
...force them to listen to N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, and all of their terrible music until their ears bleed...
Usually on Slashdot if you say how bad something is... or don't like something Like WinVsMacVsLinux or That you didn't like Xena or Buffy, there would always be someone defending them. I thought I was the onlyone who didn't like 'Sync, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and the like. I have yet to hear anyone on here defend their work.
I don't understand why they do not send a mylar blimp, (folded of course) that they could activate (inflate). I am sure that they could come up with something to operate in the thin atmosphere, but stay aloft with little effort.
How much different is that concept from the Balloon The've been already talking about?
So, you don't find most of the music out there to your taste but when you do come across something that you do like what do you do? You don't buy it, you download it. And you can't even say that you're just downloading it to preview it can you?
Well I dunno about the original poster, but I know my answer: If I couldn't download it, I just wouldn't have it at all The power of downloading is to listen to the crap you wouldn't be willing to buy.
And since the music sucks so bad... If i download it and don't ever buy it, the artist gets their reward NOTHING -as it should be. Artists who suck should be allowed to go starving.
They aren't out any money because they wouldn't have made any off me in the first place It may be copyright infringement, but it's not stealing. You can't steal something intangeble AND you can't say they are out anything as they wouldn't have made any money off me in the first place.
If I made a copy of your couch for me to use, what are your losses?
If I borrowed your couch, you wouldn't be able to have it when I did. If I made a copy of it, what are you out?
It isn't stealing, it's copyright infringement.
In order to steal something, it must be tangeble, If I have a copy of your music, you still have your music and are only out at most money you could possibly have made from me if in the rare event I may have been willing to pay for your music.
Now that that's all said, it truely is important that people figure it out. I'm not saying copyright infringement is ok to do, but it is important to make the distinction. and to understand the difference
Now: How can we best educate the public in the differences? I've seen many people try and most of them seem to come off as wanting to legalize copyright infringement altogether. I don't know about all that, people should be able to make money
We must make a distinction between making money and draconian copyright renewal (Read: Disney) Perhaps if copyrights weren't lasting 100 Years we wouldn't have so much "Infringement".
I read another post on a similar topic taht went something like I just steal CD's that way the artist still makes their money. And really realized how in such a sick way that really does make sense. It's shameful but true.
The RIAA will eventually kill itself at the rate it's going now. The sad part is how many people's lives will be destroyed in the process.
I'm not fond of the code myself, but i don't dislike it either, just have my rathers. However I wanted to have everything, so I just learned the code. No big Deal.
I would reply in great length in transcribed morse code, but the slashdot lameness filter wouldn't let me do it.
Thank God it does that though... (not for your post) But could you imaging reading Morse only to find out it's another ISR joke or a link to goatse ? Or even a advertisemnt?
Well that's a nice tall glass of point then and I agree with you 100%
Paying for content is one thing, but I also refuse to pay for advertisments.
I am cheap and proud of it. I don't by shoes with logos on them, not unless they pay me to wear them. I am so sick and tired of paying for every little thing. I can handle paying for information, services or physical things, but I'm sorry, I will not pay to be the subject of advertisements.
And I don't buy none of that crap about ads can be used to lower the cost of something either, They should make the product free or not bother at all. -If only everyone else would see this then we wouldn't have all these ads.
I AM ACTUALLY WILLING TO PAY FOR A PRODUCT (just not ads)
First you whine about how the US is dominating the whole world
Now you whine that the US could care less about the rest of the world
The problem with foriegners is they can never make up their mind. They ask the US to do things for them and then whine about how we are always trying to dominate the world when we do.
The US is a world leader less because we want to be there and more because we ended up there by attrition.
Why's wrong with running both IPv4 and IPv6 networks, phase them over time? The system can work that way and we Americans will join the rest of the world on IPv6 when we're good and ready. It doesn't hurt anyone to do this and it's less of a problem for us all too.
Why not have the Telemarketeers start calling foriegn countries? Like they could call the new calss of IT proffessionals growing in India, now that they have extra money to burn?
Except you must realize that if the waiter had more time to wait on more pople, he would be given more than that many mroe people to serve. We would have 50 tables waited by one poor waiter and service wouldn't catch up.

Die SCO, Die!
For those who didn't know that's German for The Sco, The!
It's Not a copy, it's an interpretation or representation. If it truely were a copy it would not be compressed.

If it happened or not isn't the issue, The RIAA has specifically said they are going after just these kinds of people.
How much different is that concept from the Balloon The've been already talking about?
For us Americans:
SCO's "Disappointed"? Awe poor SCO.
Well SCO, I'm very disappointed in YOU!
Now go to your room and don't come out until you've thought about what you've done.
The speed limit must have been originally posted in metric or something
Yes the world loves the wining industry of France
I'm not Francophobic either
and by the way most music made today sounds BETTER ripped at 64kbps

Many nerds are tightwads
Thank you for stating my point so well.
It is important to realize:

truethfully copyright violation != piracy either
I wish it was 5wpm when I got mine.
I'm not fond of the code myself, but i don't dislike it either, just have my rathers. However I wanted to have everything, so I just learned the code. No big Deal.
I guess I ended up one of them Know Code Extras
So that's why the EE majors keep bugging me for help, they looked up I'm an Extra in the Callbook
I think they may be the things many new users already disdain now.
Thank God it does that though... (not for your post) But could you imaging reading Morse only to find out it's another ISR joke or a link to goatse ? Or even a advertisemnt?

Maybe that's what people who had near-death experiences did?
First you whine about how the US is dominating the whole world

VoIP works both ways
We can call it a Dutch tip (not cuz the dutch are cheap, cuz it works like their auctions)
