I never quite understood the argument making people thinks that more comunication (Radio,TV,Internet) leads to more freedom. Or that we should wait more to see the "good" side appear while we already observed the "bad" side.
The extrem majority of the population thinks "local and self" first and then maybe "global". Thus communication is more interressant for people on what will hit them or concern them. Nobody cares or nearly nobody cares that people are dying by the 1000's of hunger, AIDS, civil unrest, slavery, in msot of the world. What people care is do they get a rise, will the weather be better on their town, will they keep their Job, and what new sort of diet soda taste is there.
And so communication on far away matter people do not care, or care in a morbid sense "Oh I am glad i am not living in Euthiopa", "gosh poor guys they lost everything in a civil war. What do we have for dinner ? OH WATCH ! THE LAST BUDWEISER ADS !". People thinking the net or TV will bring more freedom are blinding themselves or forget the nature of Man. I would rather say we see net only shopw our intrinsec nature : we want our own comfort and the rest come maybe after.
Instead of linking the music output to speaker or headphone, put it ina PC / Otehr type of recorder and record the analog output. Filter and repack.
Since anyway this will apparently not be CD quality but with a certain loss, so you won't loose much by re recording digital. And even betetr you won't even need an extremly high bitrate to record those.

There is a helluvia difference between an active homing (i.e. the target send a signal that can be detected and used like heat, radar information, and so on), and beeing forced to use a passive detector (the target do not send signal and the missile have to generate its own detection and analyse).
For one you save completly on analysis computation on the missile side, component and error in analysis, and as the poster above pointed you do not have to take into account fooling measure.
It is very cheap to produce dummy which looks like real nuke in atmsopheric reentry. Just put 4 dummy for every nuke and if you can't distinguiate with your method of tracking between dummy and nuke then you have to send 5 times as much missile to intercept.
So the method of tracking and tectecting and hitting HAS a great impact in the end and can transform a costly program in useless by cheap counter measure.
Finally proponent of the missle shield have still to proove it would not be more cost effective for a would be attacker to wait patiently to have 20 truck with nuke and send them in 20 city.
No suspect missile which can be tracked back.

Part of it maybe that what you record stereoscoply you have to also playback with a stereoscope system (sorry for the spelling I am not english).
Many system are/were tryed on various medium(blue/red glasses on TV, one frame over two on computer etc..). But every of those system have pro and contra (cost, quality, easy or nopt to use etc...). So in effect the problem looks easy but isn't (like the problem of path minimalisation, or even the "knot" problem).
Furthermore I am not a biologue , but as far as I discussed with one there is another problem : eye aren't alone for us Human. The brain superpose a correction on what we see. Object it recognize it doesn't see them as "flat" even if seen with only one eye. It automatically add depth. Or something like that.

For everything like graphics visualiser, OS related, Install package etc... etc... we used GCC. Why ? Because we wanted a sure result, a safe install.
But for the application we *knew* needed a boost in FLOAT performance, like compiling the quantum chemistry software, we used Portland group Compiler.
So In effect when building the Linux Cluster, gcc was used, but only for an application we used a processor specific good optimised compiler. And mainly because we could afford it...
I am one to hope for this one. For the youngest of you all which never heard of it it was a point and click adventure which was published just after "Indiana John and the last crusade".
