Free Software, in the GPL/FSF/Stallman sense is not about price at all. You should make money from your software, you should sell it- just allow people to study and modify it, redistribute and distribute it too.
What is the software you are creating? Software like Adobe Photoshop, or custom software for internal use/a client?

Basically, RMS argues that the Sun announcement offers 1600 patents for CDDL (their license for OpenSolaris) and doesn't clearly state that they are opening their portfolio to all free software licenses.
If they do that: Great. If they don't: That's not so good, Al.
According to several websites opening a Mac Mini and replacing the RAM does not void your warranty unless you break it while doing so. However, Apple provides a list of what is user-servicable on all there computers. Unfortunately, the Mac Mini is not on that list yet.
Could be that they're hoping to make some money by charging the average home user for RAM at the moment, and then after the initial surge, they'll update the list?
A.app is just a directory. Mac OS X sees.app extension and treats it as an application. Inside are various directories called things like MacOS and Resources.
This comes from the NeXTSTEP era, when a single '.app' would run on multiple architectures.
I also believe RiscOS did something similar... a file with a ! at the start (ie. !Draw, !Paint, !Browser) would be treated as an application, and would really be a folder with a set of files inside, including a loader, icon, etc.

Quite. I have a G4 700Mhz eMac and I find it perfectly adequate for my main computer. It has a 200gb firewire disk that I added last week, but apart from that I've not had problems with a 40gb disk really.
currently-accepted Open Source licenses
Which includes the GPL, right? If that's the case, I'll see you on the rooftop.
If they do make this a CDDL only thing, then it's a shame.. I care about Free Software.

Don't forget - the FSF sells Free Software too. It helps them survive.

If they are, why would they not want to sing it from the rooftops?
Specifically what licensing issues do you refer to?

I've always called it a clit mouse - maybe that's a British thing.

Would seem to make business sense
Ben's at Google and Dave Hyatt's at Apple - this must be good news.. but will Google release a browser? I doubt it.
Thanks for checking for "The Lost 1984 Mac Video"
You can try a time sliced download here, and if this is overloaded (it probably is), there are mirrors at macnews.de, php-schmiede.de, ppcnux.de, ftp.ppcnux.de, MacTechNews.de and elbewerk.
And now that the US are with us, you guys could back us up with some mirrors. Thanks bunches to all the folks who are helping us out!
It's not 1985 anymore. The point is, if you'd read it correctly that times have changed.
Just to add a bit of clarity...

If it works in IE, it should work in Firefox.
Why? I'm interested in your thinking here.
Firefox has been designed with standards in mind.
Slashdot is about as non-compliant as possible.
IE is generally better at handling mistakes - this is a problem though, as it allows people to make very bad pages.
Slashdot even know this is the case, and disallow their site to be validated.
The problem is not Mozilla. The problem is Slashdot's piss poor HTML.
Swing your arms, from side to side..

Looks pretty sweet too.
Apparently it's a SQL Lite DB that stores Metadata.
That's a Knighthood or KBE for overseas, I believe.

You forgot the obligatory comment about one mouse button too ;)
£3 is currently about $900, too ;)
I remember the days when a SNES-CD drive was the dream. Oh wait, still is.
