Or golf, depending on what is handy. I live on the Gold Coast and this place is rather infested with them during summer. It's almost become tradition to use them as golf/cricket balls. My brother managed to hit one around 100m down the road.
Now, I usually love animals. Green Tree Frogs, a cute little native frog, have almost become extinct in this area because of cane toads. Cane toads are one of the rare animals that I have absolutely no remorse in sadistically killing.
If you don't allow submissions, or even suggestions of any kind, the site will simply not grow. I know of LOTS of software that isn't on that list which I can say is completely spyware free, yet I cannot share that information since you will likely ignore me.
I'm sorry, but I can't see this website of being any use. People would have more luck just looking for stuff via sourceforge. Theres more there, and everything is free of spyware.
I could see this idea working if it was more of a community project, with submission forms and a group of volunteers who test the software and read the licenses to see if they are suitable for inclusion. As is though, with a single person, the website will fizzle out in no time.
Pretty much everywhere I have looked, Athlon64s are just only a little bit more expensive than their AthlonXP equivilents, the price has definately not increased 4 fold.
Well, at least not to the extent that Kazaa does. Originally Morpheus had no spyware whatsoever, but now you are forced to install 4 peices of software which are comparitively quite harmless. You just have to make sure that as soon as you install Morpheus, you uninstall these 4 programs. These programs do not have to be installed in order for Morpheus to run, unlike Kazaa which checks to see if they are installed.
It may be annoying, but Kazaa is a hell of a lot worse, and theres nothing that will cause permanent damage.
This isnt encryption, there isnt any kind of code cracking to be done here, its just a stupid little flag that could probably be bypassed using a quick firmware flash.
As soon as HDTV becomes more popular (in other words, as soon as all the asian companies start pumping out the receivers like they did with DVD players), there will be heaps receivers availble that have an option to have the flag turned off. Doesn't matter if its illegal or not, and the illegallity is probably only valid in the states.
Hell, in Australia, where I live, its hard NOT to find a region protected DVD player.
I may buy it when the price comes down, its pretty damn expensive at the moment. But like gamepark, they support open development, that makes me happy.
I also own one.
The GBA dev scene has many disadvantages, such as:
- Limit storage space, even with a 512mbit card, you cant store an entire 2 hour movie like you can on a cheap 128mb smart media card.
- Gamepark ENCOURAGES home development, unlike nintendo who are trying to make it illegal!
- The GP32 is much faster, and is capable of emulating more machines and running more ports. Compare the GBA version of Doom/Doom 2 to the GP32 version to see what I mean, the GBA version pales in comparison, and doesnt even support external wad files, which the GP32 version does.
- A popular option for all of those vorbis fans, is that the GP32 is now capable of playing OGG Vorbis files with bitrates of 320 and above.
- PocketNES, the GBA nes emulator, although quite a feat (and many congrats to the author) has now been outdone by Little John, a NES emulator for the GP32, which doesnt need to squash the screen, instead, theres an option to stretch it horizontally to fit the whole screen.
So sure, you can be a part of the GBA dev scene, using a platform whose company wants you to go to jail or pay massive fines, or you can join the GP32 community where gamepark openly supports the home development community, and even takes part in game development competitions.
If you watch the docos on the special edition box set, you will find that the majority of the major structures/locations in LOTR are actually models, real life models.
How did they get the hobbits to look so small? Not by CG, but by camera perspective tricks.
It seems nowadays, that whenever someone sees something that is in the realm of special effects, they automatically think it was done by computers, often, it isn't.
You think that using an overused cliche for describing anime is funny, and that being a troll on slashdot makes you cool?
Dont kill yourself, lock yourself away, hook up some tubes to the body to supply nutrients, and live a horrible pointless life wasting away in darkness. You dont deserve death.
All you slashdot flamers probably havnt even played the damn game. The focus of this game is far different to DDR.
This game is based around combat, you have to beat the other player by shooting special moves their way. You have a health meter, whoever loses their health loses. Although, there are different rules you can choose from.
Its obvious that pretty much NONE OF YOU HAVE PLAYED THE GAME.
It was microsofts choice to do this, and unfortunately, it seems to be the most popular option in the console world.
Many companies are trying to make this illegal by implementing stupid laws.
Since when do companies make laws? I always thought that they should just follow them.
The linux modchips that you can currently get are 100% legal, due to the fact that they were developed without any microsoft software dev kits. Every other modchip, however, was developed with an Xbox SDK, making the software illegal. Also note that most of the software that you run along with those modchips is also developed with it, thus, illegal.
Despite what you say about it being your right to import games and being able to play it on your xbox, you cant do that without a pirated chip.
We can only hope that someone developed a homebrew bios that does run xbox software.
This doesnt apply to ps2 or psx modchips though, they dont have any illegal code in them.
I like widescreen as it gives a greater scope to the image, after all, our vision is in widescreen.
It really depends on the movie. For something like The Matrix, 2.35:1 widescreen is pretty much needed. For a comedy, like, say, Bowfinger, you only really need a 1.85:1 aspect ratio.
I don't care about black bars and crap like that, as long as the movie is in the aspect ratio that it was intended for (yes, that means stuff like "The Shining" which although had a widescreen release at the cinemas, was actually directed with a 1.33:1 ratio in mind).
So the director intended to bore the audience with 6 hours of footage?
No, he got an experienced editor to edit the movie down so it would be WATCHABLE.
the alwsn says: "i want to make some electronic equipment i own do something it was never intended to do without opening the case, changing anything, and i want it to work flawlessly every time."
Say hello to the dreamcast you tard.
www.dcemulation.com
No modding or anything. Simply burn a CD and it works.
I own one of these things, so I have a somewhat more informed opinion that your 3 second sample of what it feels like.
It's relatively cheaply built? Seriously, I handled one at the local import shop and, well, you get what you pay for.
Relative to what? A GBA? A Pocket PC? I have dropped this thing a few times, it has been used almost non stop for about a month now, and I have had NO PROBLEMS. It's as solid as a brick! The d-pad may feel "cheap" because it uses microswitches. Microswitches, although noisy, are built to last. Im using a 1980s keyboard right now that uses microswitches, not a single stuck key at all. The buttons on the front are fine, although I do admit the top buttons feel a bit stiff.
not a few mhz faster 133mhz is pretty goddamn fast. the GBA is 16mhz
GB/NES goes about 50% GB/GBC go full speed, although at times the games can be a bit glitchy. NES emulation has no sound, and runs at frameskip 3 (20fps), but plenty of games work, and its very playable. Seeing as though a GBA can pull of NES emulation at 16mhz, full speed mind you, it would seem likely that the GP32 could pull it off at 66-133mhz
SNES/Genesis/TG16/PS2/Xbox Although 2 of these are smartass material, the other 3 arn't
TG16, or the PC Engine as its known in Japan, is fully emulated with complete sound and runs at full speed. Compatability is also very high. The emulator is called GPEngine, and R-Type RAWKS on it.
I've been messing with the best SNES emulator out atm (IMO) called SNESEmu, and it runs at half speed, frameskip 2, no sound. The fact that this is a first release, and it runs at that speed, is impressive enough. It will surely get better.
The genesis is very easy to emulate, as its very well documented. It could easily run at full speed with a frameskip of 1 or 2.
Note, that although frameskip may sound nasty, it doesnt really matter at all. A frameskip of 3 is fine, and every game is playable on it. 4 is getting a bit much though.
Its obvious you dont have the first idea about, well, anything.
So, I conclude, the GP32 rocks hard, and you're a fucking idiot.
"One of the reasons the Xbox is losing money so badly is that the controllers are too big for the Japanese market."
But of course, that is complete bullshit, because they dont even sell the american controllers, there, they sell the "S" Type ones, which are much MUCH smaller.
actually, they are completely different games. Triple Trouble is Sonic and Tails, a game gear game.
Sonic and Knuckles is a add-on (although it can be played stand alone) for Sonic 3/2
For sonic 2 it had an extra rom chip to basically swap sonic with knuckles.
For sonic 3 it added more than three levels, it actually completed the game sonic 3 should have been. The levels werent hidden on the sonic 3 cart, although some areas (on existing levels) that were only for knuckles are. It was designed in mind for sonic & knuckles.

It sounds better without "motherfucker" anyway.
The US seems to have this "ban swear words and sex, but violence is A-OK". That isn't weird, its fucking stupid.
In australia, sex is treated even more harshly, but swearing is OK. You can hear "fuck" on TV at 8pm sometimes.
The UK is strange, I think they have something against martial arts of something like that.

It was their decision to use this marketing strategy, they just have to cope with this.
Its just showing you how much of the image your missing out on. Who the fuck cares about black bars?
Yes it was, and its also simply a directors choice.
I like widescreen as it gives a greater scope to the image, after all, our vision is in widescreen. It really depends on the movie. you lose huge amounts of detail when you convert the film into video. HDTV screens are almost always widescreen.
So the director intended to bore the audience with 6 hours of footage? No, he got an experienced editor to edit the movie down so it would be WATCHABLE.
