  1. Re:It was born dead already on Salon Goes Inside the X-Box · · Score: 1

The fact of the matter is, MS and many other industry experts anticipated poor sales in Japan and Europe during the XBox's initial launch. True, the sales figures were lower than expected, but not THAT much lower.

I dont believe MS would want to lose Japan market which is one of the most "rich" one out there. You know what that is? Poor business planning! Man, if I know my console would depend ONLY on USA sales would I really launch it or work a little more? Come on, not even hollywood is stupid enough to rely on USA for their movies...

As far as your post goes, fabiolrs, isn't EVERY video game system essentially a PC? What makes the XBox more a PC than PS2? A hard drive?

i know that... but I would rather spend 400 bucks on a new video card and play many other great games then spend 400 bucks on video game and wait for 1 game to be released every month..

im not saying others are not computers, im saying xbox share the same architeture of a PC which makes it more a PC than others...

Playstation One had hundreds of games available at release! Wow! (That's not the way I remember it.)

yeah... not in the begining but months later there were plenty of games. Come on, Xbox is out there for quite a while and all we see is 1 new game a month.

Ok, can you connect PS2/GC HDD on a PC and play around with it? Does PS2/GC have lame Celeron processors? (nothing against Celerons, they are just know to be pretty much inferior to many other processors)

Id rather spend 400$ on new hardware to my PC and play many other games (which are much better than xbox)...

I, personally, dontt like Xbox. Its just a computer inside a pretty box that connects to your TV so you can play games. And why is it dying? Well, Microsoft has a pretty weak business planing for Xbox. It has no support from many of world largest game houses, it was born too damn expensive, it has two or three good games (out of 10 games ever launched)... what, in my opinion, made Playstation One so famous was one possibility to choose beetwen hundreds of diferent games.

Hope Micros~1 does a better job next time!

Most of the stuff researched today is, unfortunately, aimed to bad stuff. Like the Anti Ballistic Missile Shield (aim a laser to the space and destroy the missile), there are documentation that clarifies the purpose of that laser, if you can shoot a laser to space having a base on earth you can pretty much do the oposite dont you? If you have a satelite, as instance, you can deliver a laser bean anywhere in the world.

Unfortunately nanotechnology will have the same end....
