Not quite sure if it's the same thing, but Final Fantasy 3 (USA) had them. Kinda. It was an option to turn on in the game to make the menus simpler to use, and sped up combat somewhat. Handy.
The answer to most every question, I have found, can be answered in some fashion with google. Especially when the quality of answer you are searching for is that of slashdot discussions;)
MMORPG companies should build the ability to sell a character into the game! Take a little off the top and make an auction house in-game for characters and items. It would be the perfect balance of control and giving the users what they want.
Does my software work on the Mac?
Speaking as a mac-convert within the past year, this point holds a lot of people back. Not will software run on the Mac, but will software I have previously purchased work on the Mac? If Apple had some service where they and the vendors had a PC for Mac trade-in program (and some do, like Adobe), it would get more people over the hump to switch.
No Good? Haven't you ever heard of laziness? Sometimes it goes by the name of convenience. Either way, customers typically like it, and will pay more for it. Making them click a link in an email and logging in is just too much for the consumer to deal with, and must be simplified if you hope to sell whatever crap you're hoping to push on the public. (well, maybe that's a little overboard) Either way, you trade security for simplicity.
use the Quake III engine over the Doom III engine. Yikes. Thanks for forcing everyone to get new cards for recreation. I must be getting old since I can't justify this a new 3d card...
I'd give them a call to see if you could do the same.

Stop spreading FUD about Closed Source. You say though with their source being proprietary, we can't know for sure. By saying this, you appear to be thinking that that MS has stolen GPL source code. I think you've been watching Antitrust too much.
Microsoft has better things to do with its development dollars than hire people to rip off open source developers. If they were ripping off OSS, Microsoft is smart enough to fold Apache into IIS a long time ago and make IIS not suck so much:)
Requiring open source implementations takes away from the ability of the best coder to sell a better product, and harms software devel as a business. So stop spreading FUD about closed source. Let people choose their own damn license. If someone believes that a closed source license protects their interests, let them use it.
Oh really?
a time machine. Maybe then I can rid the world of the emoticons. Foolish emoticons, the autobots were only the beginning of your worries...

But there are two CPUs, I wonder if the chipset splits the memory accesses between the two...
Some of the programmers I know would never realize that their code was buggy--they obviously don't pay attention to odors...
gvim, but since I just noticed that you said it doesn't "do it" for you, I guess I'm just flapping my lips about in a vain attempt for Karma...
so can the blue fairy really grant wishes?
I think comments should automatically get a +1 funny if someone takes the time to type out decent leetspeak.
"Killer Coffee" be a better title for this one?

Come on, there are plenty of great alternatives to both MS and GNU/Linux. Just because its open source doesn't mean it has to be Linux.

the goal anyway? Why does Redhat have to team up with Dell to make security a priority?
Interesting how it's innovation when it's Doom, but when is MS office, it's bloat...

If I recall, id goes on record as wanting to make games that appeal to the id--ergo little story, mucho visual appeal and action.

I was asked "Do you play Diablo II?". Needless to say, I got the job.
thorough...
I wondered if a big company would buy Napster and sit on it. This will be interesting to see if the assets are going to be used or not.

Ditto for me and a copy of "Stiff Upper Lip" by ACDC. Can't see the music in Explorer, but CDEX rips it just fine.
