The biggest complaint I have with Rock Band 1 is the crappy guitar they included. I know the new one will be wireless, but will the buttons and strum bar be playable?
This seems like a good idea until you realize it's going to take a couple of hours to create the parity data. Either that or my computer is really slow.
This is sorta off topic, but that comment reminded me of a book I read one time in which the main character had a shed in his yard that would slow time way down for anyone who was in it. So he spent like a year in it but only one day had passed in the real world. I remember he did lots of working out while he was in there and when he came out his older brother was pissed =). Anybody happen to know what that was called?
Excellent advice, but that's so much work, I don't think it's worth the hassle. I'll send 'em in, but I won't follow up on them like this. If I get the rebate back, I see it as a bonus. I won't buy it if I think it's a bad deal without the rebate.
The third baseman did make one play in the field =)
Also, I would actually argue that the play the shortstop made where he charged the ball hard and made the throw on the run was more difficult than the bunt.
Heh, I guess I should have thought about this before I posted, but if you don't remember the site, or you want to take a stroll down memory lane, the wayback machine has some nice linkage for perusal.
Does anybody else remember the dukeofurl? I used to love reading that site. It had some of the best distro reviews IMHO. I learned a lot reading the various articles and things posted there. It helped me to graduate from the newbie state rather painlessly.
So what does television need to do? Experiment. I want to see stuff on television I haven't seen before, not some dumbass sitcom that's revolutionary because it has a gay person. Real life is far more interesting.
Wait a minute, did you just make an argument for reality TV? Nooooooooooooooo!!!!;-)
Not sure what his problem with fink is, but I dislike it because there aren't enough packages available in stable as binaries. It seems like everything I try to install is in unstable or unavailable prebuilt.
It seems like for whatever reason Apple gets the benefit of the doubt a lot more often than other companies; I'm not sure why. Every corporation seeks to maximize its profits.
I think the main reason apple tends to get the benefit of the doubt in a lot of cases is because most of the time they focus on and succeed in creating products that are technologically better than the competition. People on slashdot tend to notice good technology when they see it, and are appreciative of it. They get bonus points for using an open source kernel in their OS. They get bonus points for creating rendezvous and documenting it nicely so others can use it. They get bonus points for expose, which is a truly useful innovation. The list goes on...
The media wants the race to be close. If there's a blowout, the real loser is the media, because there's no story. Thus the front runner usually gets bad press, and the others tend to be more positive. Thus I agree with your assertion that "it is more hostile to some than others."
That's a lot of features there, pal. And you say those are your minimum requirements. You obviously have a need for many features most people do not. Not to mention the fact that those features would most certainly not be "easy to include on a new player." The thing that really baffles me is your conclusion where you say "I just want to be able to fit all my songs in my pocket and find the right tunes to play when on the train. Is it really too much to ask?" You contradicted your entire post with that sentence, because clearly you do demand more than that. You mods are on crack.
Greatest post ever. Can we mod you up to 11?
Oh c'mon, dude!

You mean like in "The Measure of a Man"?
Fortune cookie at the bottom of the page for me:
They are relatively good but absolutely terrible. -- Alan Kay, commenting on Apollos
So what you're saying is:
User interfaces matter. Even to people on slashdot.

Well I guess it's a good thing nobody actually reads TFA.

I don't think iphoto comes with Tiger. Other than that, I agree with you.

They don't work just great if you're not running windows.

Other than that, I fully agree.

100 posts for me. Yay.
They don't need the iPod and iTunes to lure windows users, they've got Mac OS X for that :-)

Hotmail was only down for 10 MS-minutes.
So I guess that means Longhorn will be out around 2025.
You ever seen that mythbusters episode where they peed on the tracks? Yeah, that was a good one.

This is good news. Now we just need to get lirc support and ivtv support without nasty hacks, and I'll be good to go.
What's up wIAkywBFATW?
