Well, if Zoyd's got any reason to get annoyed with said room full of people (like maybe they keep asking him how come http:\\www.blahcom. doesn't work for them, everything said group of people are doing will become annoying... (Or maybe I'm projecting a little too much here?)
Yeah, you can click & scroll, but acceleration would still be good. It should keep scrolling faster as long as you crank on the wheel. Say, half again as fast for every 1/2 or 1/3 second that the wheel is being scrolled faster than x speed (where x is set in the control panel).
Yeah, okay. So J. Average Luddite realizes that the remote maybe needs new batteries. Then goes into the kitchen, rattles around the junk drawer, finds 2/4/7/whatever of the appropriate size (maybe... AA, AAA, what's the difference?) and gets them in the right way. Maybe enough of them even work to get the remote going again. And don't forget to put the old ones in the drawer. (I've witnessed this behaviour even in people who are able to set the time on various electronics without assistance)
Now, while using your leg sounds impressive (I guess?) and all, its not really constructive. You want to impress the improvment of technology involved on people? I use mine on my desktop. My desktop is a perfectly featureless slab of white surfaced particle board (can't remember the specific term, but its a hard, smooth surface attached to 5/8" particle board). No lines or visible patterns of any kind, and it works perfectly. I guess it can get a "pattern" of sorts from the texture (I assume that there is one if you get close enough) for gauging movement.
But none of that matters either... These mice will actually work (sort of) even for tech-support-line-horror-story level users who put the mouse on the screen to move the cursor!
I love mine too! But you don't have to kill me to get it away from me, just convince another peripherial manufacturer to make one too. (Preferably a _big_ one. MS mice are reliable, but they're too small.)
I think after I get ahold of that nice 40G that's been saying my name every time I look at the Future Shop flyers, I'll devote my current 10G to BG & BG engine games... Should be full by the end of the year... BG w/ TSC & Torment now, that's a little more than 1/2 full, Icewind in a couple weeks will take it to 3/4 probably... hmmm. BG2 won't fit... so much for that plan...
Does the atl-atl really qualify as a club though? You're not really hitting the projectile with it, you're using it as a lever to really crank up your throwing power. (Lacrosse instead of hockey kinda thing) Also, weren't the projectiles more of a short spear (1' - 1'6" I think) than an arrow? It seems like an actual arrow would be too light to throw straight and fast, even with the power assist of an atl-atl...
I think that number would be even higher if swords weren't a really expensive thing to have hanging on your wall. Even those cheesy (unsharpened!) replicas that all the House of Knives locations have are hundreds of dollars... I'd love to have a huge collection of authentic (or accurate replicas) swordsd, from both western and eastern cultures, but I'm not rich, so I'll just have to hope that maybe these Project Dragonslayer guys will use their newfound knowledge to make more swords, as well as golf clubs (ugh... what a waste of cool metalurgy).
I sort of half-remember a short story I read when I was a little kid where it turned out that the earth was an egg. Humans figured this out when the mother bird was spotted returning to the nest. They started checking out the interior and realized that all those silly plate tectonic explanations for earthquakes were wrong, its just the chick moving around. Anyhow, they said that the surface features of the earth are about the same as the tiny bumps on a chicken egg...
There is no "good" or "evil" involved in capatilism. There isn't even "legal" and "illegal" anymore. All that's left is cost/benifit analysis and profit. And any company that decides against something for any reason other than a bad cost/benifit analysis is going to get sued for not maximizing profits, and therefore, "harming shareholder interests"
Well, I know one thing. DII is going to steal my summer. I spent 5 hours playing last night before I finally crawled off to bed.
I'd have to say that anyone whining about lag has problems at their end. The only time I had any slowdown was when memturbo defraged, causing hard drive thrash. (I'll have to turn off the auto defrag tonight)Didn't have any problems with it other than that. (Although I wiped my first guy by accident)
I don't know, watching the videos (I really wish they'd left them as a single file), I found myself saying "but, can we make new tilesets?" repeatedly. Sure, the editor is wicked cool, and looks very easy, but if we can't make custom tiles, everybody's content is going to look just like everyone elses' content.
Hah! You think that's good? I just got into the stress test. Today. The mail showed up at 5:34 PM. I'm downloading it now. I figure I'll beable to knock off a couple days with this until EB gets my Vampire Collectors ed to me.
Oh no! Not four CD's! Whatever shall we do? Don't you people rememeber switching 10+ 3.5 disks back in the days when CD's were just being considered as a medium? I remember trying to play King's Quest 5, where there was one disk with the engine, and 9 disks with content. Every time you changed screens, it made swap disks at least a dozen times... (besides, there's been other games with more CD's, like BG. And lots with 3)

Diablo 2 Goes Gold

· Score: 1
When's the last time DII had a date announced? It's been when its done for a really long time now.
Well, According to gonegold, the full install of Vampire is 1.25 Gb. And you could always contrast it to Baldur's Gate or it's decendants if you want to make it seem smaller.
Isn't that the goal of Libertarians and Lassez-faire Capitalists? If safety and health can be bought and sold, why not privacy too? For that matter, why not freedom of speech or freedom from slavery. (If you say something someone doesn't like, and your free speech insurance has run out, they'll sue you far enough into debt that you become their indentured servant?)
OK, so maybe its a little off-topic, but I think that it is a natural progression when one thing after another becomes a product instead of a legally protected right...
Oh, I don't have a problem with the layout. (It's really well done, especially considering the button count) It's just that I'd like it be scaled up so that it would seem like I've got something substantial in my hands.

Looks like a render of hand-made leather slippers. (All bunched up at the bad seam work...)

So are you saying that everything in the US is (was?) all well and good? No one going hungry or any other serious problems?
Hmm... I'm reminded of an old .sig of mine...
Fear extremists, for they will not listen to reason.

For proof, just watch Falling Down again. An excellent movie, made even better with the liberal use of advanced weaponry!

Uh, chattel trespass?
Been reading Otherworld?

That sucks. I still wouldn't be allowed to go...
not that I could pass the physical...
