  1. Boston Science Museum Exhibit on Bicycle Riding on Square Wheels · · Score: 1

I remember a few years back there was an exhibit on precicely this at the Boston Museum of Science. They had a four-wheeled car though, rather than three. One could sit in it and pedal it back and forth along a short piece of track they had constructed. I was extremely surprised at how well it worked and how smooth it was. It would have been impossible to tell that it wasn't a wheel on flat pavement without looking at it. A nifty trick indeed.

According to the American Heritage dictionary, war is: "A state of open, armed, often prolonged conflict carried on between nations, states, or parties"

Having a 'war' means that there will be a winner and there will be an end. You cannot have a war on terrorism, nor a war on drugs, nor a war on any ideas. These 'wars' cannot be won, and therefore are not, in fact, wars. There is no end to a war on an idea.

  8. What *I* Believe our Founding Fathers were thinkin on Font Company Wielding DMCA Against Bit-Flipping · · Score: 1
I think that when our founding fathers wrote the 2nd amendment, they were thinking along the lines of "Lets allow people to own guns so that if there is an invasion attempt or an attack on our security, these people, an organised militia can be ready to defend our nation with their own weapons and save us the time of handing out weapons." I think they were thinking along the lines of a volunteer fire department where, when the alarm is sounded, the militia runs off to defend in a very short time. I truly do not think of this as a 'personal right' or as a right to own a gun to kill someone you don't like. It was meant to serve as an emergency plan to defend our country from tyrrany and/or outside rule.

All previous statements about my position on gun control and the 2nd amendment have not changed from parent post.

  9. In fact, you're only halfway there.... on Font Company Wielding DMCA Against Bit-Flipping · · Score: 1
I quote the Constitution of the United States of America:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Now, please explain how "well regulated militia" translates into 'anyone, even criminals with no required background check'. I don't think that requiring an extensive background check or extra paperwork to buy a gun infringes on the words 'well regulated'.

Please don't get me wrong here, I very much enjoy the safe use of firearms. I was very happy to shoot a Glock 21 last summer. I, however, do support SOME gun control. As with anything, like the DMCA and CBDTPA, TOO MUCH control is a ery bad thing. Making it tougher for a criminal to buy a gun does not violate the 2nd Amendment.

I do not think under most circumstances that a criminal is going to make a "well regulated militia" with the intent of preserving "the security of a free State".

I hope this clears up some confusion about the 2nd amendment, because while the anti-gun lobbyists may turn this argument in their favour, the pro-gun lobbyists certainly do by neglecting the entire first half of the amendment. I take no sides in the debate of pro-gun, anti-gun.

I agree wholly. I (while I am only 15) was depressed for quite a while. I guarantee you it was not because of a 'chemical imbalance' as my psychiatrist said. It was because I was a reject in school due to my behaviour. It was in fact completely my fault. I was put on Zoloft, Prozac, and Paxil and they did nothing but make me artificially happy. That only made my problems worse.

Now I cannot say that meds do not need to be prescribed in ALL cases, certainly some people do need them, but they tend to be OVERPRESCRIBED in situations where they are not needed whatsoever, or not needed as heavily as they are prescribed. Psychiatrists are way to quick to diagnose 'major depressive episode' or 'ADD' or 'AD/HD' or whatnot. I do not think that many psychiatrists, of course not all, understand what really is happening. Often symptoms are misinterpreted to be something they are not. Depression is quite often caused by a certain situation, as with my case, and can be helped if removed from that situation and put in a more nurturing/helping one.

That is, of course, just my opinion. I have no right to disagree with the professionals on this because they have a degree and I do not, regardless that I lived through this situation.
