    Raid 0 is not real Raid. That doubles the speed of data transfer, by using 2 HDD, and pretending its one. You probably need Raid 0+1, which has speed benefits, and redundancy. It means of course 4 HDD, all identical...

    NOtice the hole punches and binder paper tears on the second scan - after 10+ years that kind of cheap paper would be starting to go yellow, and those hole puches would be flat, as whoever had that piece of paper would have had to store it somewhere, which would have over time flattened the bumps in the paper. Cute though.. heh :)

    Fair enough, but

    No mention of family, next of kin, etc. Sure you could use the address to threaten them, find out who lives there, who their family is, etc, but one could obtain that infomation easily without that database. I think the real problem is going to be fraud - having a CC, SSN, address, and phone number would be enough to fool a store into giving ya stuff online, creating a fake identity, and all that other nafarious stuff that script kiddies do.

    This seems a very unlikely scenario.
    First of all, you wouldn't need a medical database to look up someone's next of kin - it's trivially easy to find it on the net.
    Secondly, it would normally be hard to carry out that threat - they'd have to infiltrate an army base to get at the family - might as well snatch some "top secret" papers instead; lot less touble, more reliable info, etc etc.

    I think he made a typo; He probably meant only 60 minutes, not 6 per gig. The reason I think this is that he compares it to WMP 9'c codec, which can do 1.5 Hrs / gig according to his article.

    Makes sense to me.

    Not only that, but you risk damaging the monitor. If you try to discharge it that quickly you could do serious damage to it. Not to mention sticking 25kV into the grounds probably illegal :)

    I agree.
    If anyone wants to do a bit of monitor modding, please PLEASE keep it off for about a week or so. The problem is that the CRT is basically a huge capacitor, storing something like 25,000 volts. Let the damn thing drain before taking it apart.

    We're talking energy density here;
    ie, one could have a smaller battery with a higher energy density compared with today's batteries, or we could keep the size of today's batteries, and just increase the density, and therby increase the life of it. Geddit ;)

    Sure its another CD format, but the bait that they plan on using to lure conumers is the improvements that SACD has over the traditional format, such as 5.1 souround sound. That is pretty cool, admit it :).

    Nonsense.
    If you're using the UPGRADE version of windows, sure, you'll need the CD, but often it allows you just insert the previous version of windows, and continue installtion. Also, windows update is an incredibly usefull resource. You let it scan your PC, and you download all the patches in a bundle, with no user intervention needed.
