Napster was just a drop in the bucket compared to what's currently out there. Now, rather than just music, you can download literally almost anything that's ever been published on video, audio or text, and tons of stuff that hadn't to this point. You can publish your own content. And I'm not just talking compressed audio with pops and skips, like you used to see on Napster.
Remember how Napster let you download a few tracks from your favorite singers and bands? BitTorrent lets you download every song those singers and bands have ever made.
They should boot Vista just fine, since Vista should support EFI. They're just having problems because the new Macs don't have BIOS, and because XP can't handle that.
And no, I'm not talking about that mythical Applescript which I have never encountered which the user had to download and run, which would delete the user's home folder.
Damn, my mod points just ran out yesterday. If the post above deserves a (+5,Informative), so does this one. PEG Ratio is just as important as PE Ratio.
Thank you for being one of only a few people who seems to understand why the President and Vice President should not be, and were not originally, elected together.
As a Mac user and owner for over a decade who has only owned one PC in his life(for less than a year), and who works with Windows frequently, I agree that the issue of compatibility is drastically overstated.
But a lot of users don't want to buy all new software(and have no idea that Mac software tends to work better anyway).
If Windows users perceive less of a risk, they will, as a whole, be more likely to buy Apple's hardware. And that's what the ability to natively run Windows gives them. A "safety net".
I've heard a lot of people say they won't buy Macs because they need compatibility. The new Macs should be able to run Windows. That's the ultimate in compatibility.
If they can boot Windows, I think many fewer people will be scared to buy a Mac due to losing compatibility, so more people will probably end up buying.
The Mac OS has changed drastically since 10 years ago. Except for the menus being on top, the desktop icons being on the right, and the resize corner being in the lower right, the Mac OS interface of today looks completely different than the Mac OS of 10 years ago.
Within just the past few years, Apple has integrated Dashboard, integrated column browsing from NeXTSTEP, created the dock and improved its functionality, and don't forget Exposé, which is, if I'm not mistaken, a new concept in dealing with windows and application switching.
Yes, OS X includes rsync, but strangely enough, I don't know of Apple having any graphical utility to manage it. I use a little shell script.
You can automate it with launchd, or if you don't know how to use launchd, you can still use cron.
or we wont...

Especially reputable journals whose page title is "Inventions and Ideas from Science Fiction Books and Movies at Technovelgy.com:"

You'll be able to install Windows on Macs. The game argument is out the window.
It looks to me like he was saying the opposite, that something that isn't full-featured is not something a grandma would want to use.

I've had their service for two months now, and it's been great.Exactly. Google and services like it are the only reason what Verizon is selling has any value at all.
If anything, Verizon should be paying Google for adding value to Verizon's service!
IMHO, grandmothers probably want something that works and is easy to use, rather than something that is "fully-featured".
I know this is Slashdot, so you've probably done this, but if not, you might want to change the port you're using to something like 50000.
No, he just took a little pill...
Name me an OS X virus. Please.

Java. Not Javascript.

Seagate has 160GB 2.5" 5400RPM drives available.

Why don't starfish count?

You have no idea about the pricing on Apple's Intel hardware, and neither do I. When it debuts, it may be close enough in price to be competitive.
Just keep in mind that "can" doesn't always (or even usually) translate to "will".

Of course!
Because Apple's been forcing the recording companies to produce crappy music.
