Good point, i liked the fact in HL1 they had WON IDs for online play but for LAN these were scrapped (as obviously you can't validate them) but this was excellent for these office LAN bashes:)
Now we maybe have to suffer with no HL2 LAN play, i could see this could cause a problem at LAN parties where a net connection is extremly hard to get (say like a LAN party in a Pub meeting room).
Heh you think thats good eh? I had someone ring up trying to blame our website for it. Not ONLY that but her husband works for a IT department for a certain council and he said it was our website...idiots!
Well, if advance wars 1 is anything to go by the 2 will rock. Atm ive got a standoff with a CPU player fighting over a bridge, the lines havn't moved for over 100 turns, both maxed money, both with about 5 factories...heres day 172 *sigh*
Load testing couldnt really be tested on the beta as they didnt have a "open beta"...they went to the closed 30,000 people beta (beta 3) straight to live...i dont think it was really prepaired for the onslaught it recivied.
I've got:
AMD Althon XP 2000+
768mb RAM (PC-133)
GeForce4 Ti 4200
Runs sweet as a nut, around 40-50fps average. Never twiddled from the default detail settings either. It can get laggy in some places with alot of PCs/NPCs but that only happens in like Mos Eisly and few other popular Starwars retreats.
I've not played the beta for massive ammounts of times (IRL stuff started up right as i was in the swing of the beta, doh!) but i can say its got excellent gameplay...the few bugs do put a massive shadow over the game (such as the transport bug...buy a ticket, use it and go nowhere).
I like all the old/new comparisons....just they seem a bit silly. Eg: the headphones, the "new" ones also came with the v1.5 iPods (as i call em, the slighly slimmed and increased size versions). Also the processor is the same one just a newer revision...
Another is the software review, how about EphPod? a free Windows iPod manager? seems a little restricted view on the iPod imho... possibly this review was wrote not by a avid user of one but someone who just managed to get his hands on 2 spare iPods...
nah im saying if the application uses a certain method of rendering i see it better for em to improve the code a slight bit to make that method run a little faster?
Also read some other comments, it says they improve quality in the benchmark? I'm not listening to the market spin, i just think Nvida could help tweak applications at the driver level if they just put some effort in, and give some positive gains that people will see.
i say please include application based optmizations at will, just don't do it for benchmarking tools...i would like my games to run just that little bit faster, imho i take no notice to benchmarks just real word tests.
My Gforce4 is enough to run any games i want, and any future games i cant run then i upgrade to something the developer recommends...
Bullet lag?
on
Matrix MMORPG
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
Brings up alot of implementation questions...say bullet time? (thats if there gonna include it). with MMORPG u usually need to keep sync with whats going on around u, bullet time will slow u down and obviously summat ur fighting.
Solutions are: 1. Slow the entire server down too, or 2. try to squeeze all the action into the small timeframe but render it slow on the client, this could possibly create artifical lag for everyone else or a huge catchup situation (aka. lag) for the player.
Of course this is IF they implement it:)
In a fewer words: it will be interesting how they can bring the matrix universe alive while still keeping some of its ethos:)
http://www.giantcompany.com/...i use it at home, intergrates nice with Outlook 2000 and nice and easy to use (click "Is Spam" and "Isn't Spam") but it filters a good 90% of my spam without intervention. Its had only 2 miss fires but a quick click on "Isnt Spam" and its all fixed.
Guess thats another thing worm writers will pick up...dont have autoupdate from a website, without that little "feature" the worm would probably hang around for alot longer.

Ahh yes free, but still u need to install there root certificate...and if you have to do that then you might as well sign your own.
Lookie here: http://www.cacert.org/index.php?id=16
Basiclly means that every user (sender and reciver) has to have that CA root cert added to there setup...
Infact the UK version of the adapter is BB only...

In other news, a slashdot moderator accidently moderates a comment Redundant, even though the artical is just that.
i have a A600 with a Viper 630 accel card and PCMICA ethernet...rock as a small Web server (can you say Linux M68k w00t :P)
Used to be? I still use my Amiga you insensitive clod! :)
Also that link will work with a proper installed version mIRC for all those Windows users :)
I really should hold a lightswitch rave now i know this...
THE CHEAT...IS GRRRROUNDED!
And the best thing for brits, they still get the BBC over there i think :)

Letsblowitup.com is good enough for me!

how can this post be modded as troll when he has a very valid point?

aha but how long before SCO announces a jihad against BSD? looks like the whole theory of "if we can't have it, no one can!"
its amazing how quotes can be took out of context :)
