Quake 3 Arena is like 8 years old and is alive, well, and growing again thanks to id's free beta.
Looks like Epic's strategy of copying everything id does is finally paying off...(kidding, mostly)
I suspect you are one of these people who equates a pet with a brother, sister, mother, father, son or daughter. If so, you're an imbecile of the highest order.
An early clue that someone may be a sociopath is mistreatment of animals. It points to a lack of empathy. How you treat a pet is a good indication of how you are likely to treat your brother, sister, mother, father, son, daughter or a stranger in the street. It's a pretty broad leap to go from the quote you mention to mistreatment of animals. Just because someone does not equate a pet with a human family relative does not mean that they mistreat animals.
Consumers don't want to purchase videos to own and watch at their leisure. iTunes' success will definitely be short-lived.
Sincerely,
The Original Divx
How many morons in the world actually accept everything they see or read (especially on the internet) as fact?
I think the real story here is that there are a bunch of idiots in the world who are ignorant of humor. Case in point: Borat vs. Kazakhstan. --> There's way too much of this in every government and most major media outlets (see: u.s. gov./media vs. video games)
Sony is letting us build them one of the greatest distributed supercomputers the internet has ever seen!
If only I had the capital laying around to allow all you Slashdot readers to build me a supercomputer (and finacially support its operation by paying the power bill)...
What Sony isn't telling us is that they've also partnered with Folding@Home in hopes that this uber-network will solve their major financial woes.
The JCB Website which that blog post linked to (but is having MySQL errors) stated that they reached 360+ and 340- to average around 350.
I would throw up a RTFA, but it's so cliche...

Apparently Slashdot isn't as fast as it used to be. That car has already hit 360+ mph. 320+ mph is now old hat.
As an aside, all these smaller blogs seem to be able to keep up with the news much better than slashdot these days. I often find myself with a feeling of deja vu when I'm on Slashdot, as I've no doubt read the clippings elsewhere a few days prior.
Ah, the problems inherent in scale.
I have a RAZR and Tiger. Syncs via bluetooth and USB flawlessly. Not sure you can use it as modem for the internet, although I know this feature is available for windows, so it's possible. It's worth it.
After reading the articles, this appears to me to be nothing more than a well deserved vacation for all the people that have been tirelessly working to meet a deadline for all of us gamers. Maybe I read a bit too much into the title, which to me seemed to suggest some sort of abandonment.
THEN DON'T USE IT AND STFU.
Quit wasting everyone's time with stupid lawsuits.
Until congress writes mandatory participation in the GMail program, this is pointless. This is hardly a privacy concern considering the vast amount of information that is available for purchase on the internet.
I've got visions of that Conan O' Brian, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog short on the people standing outside Episode II, dressed up in Obi Wan garb, acting out the scene where they swim in Episode I. It was pathetic.
I can't wait to see self-respecting people doing this.
So how long will it be before someone creates a device that you plug the cable/signal into directly that then erases the flag or sends that there is no flag before it's sent to the digital box/television?
I can't imagine this to be difficult since it's unencrypted.
What a waste of time and money.
it was a joke. calm down.
I'm well aware that the amount of work that takes place behind the scenes of a movie is larger than people suggest...and the union workers that put it all together don't get enough credit as it is, despite having to deal with directors that can up and change the plan for the day at the drop of a hat...not to mention you have to get it all in while the light is the same.
But humor is the spice of life.
Remember, movie piracy doesn't just hurt actors, but also camera operators, key grips, makeup artists, and costumers.
Actually based on how the movie industry operates...these people were all compensated before the release of the movie. They work in a union and most of them don't do anything on the set anyways....they are just the backup in case the head guy takes an extra coffee break. The only people really getting screwed are the ones that distribute and produce the movies. Distributors make a good percentage of theater profits, having to take care of the end of producing additional prints of the film and then securing contracts with theaters to show them. Producers also make a percentage of ticket sales, but also make a percentage on every DVD/VHS/Any-Future-Media purchase. Theaters make a very small percentage, if at all, and obviously make their money off the concessions. Distributors and Theaters will re-negotiate their deals based on how the movie does during the opening weekend.
What is also BS is that typically more than half of the proceeds from movie tickets is made on opening weekend. So in the time it would take a person to video tape it and distribute it, if this person isn't an insider at the movie theater or at the studio/distribution house, it would only affect subsequent weekends which are much less important.
Long story short, it doesn't affect any of those people, just the people who are taking a percentage of the profits from DVD sales, i.e. Production Company, Distribution Company, Investors, (sometimes actors).
The Rendezvous-enabled version of iTunes isn't out yet. Steve enjoys flaunting unfinished software that people drool over...like he's been doing with recently released Keynote, the presentation software he's been using at these conferences for almost a year now. I've only heard speculation as to the release of this new rendezvous enabled iTunes which people seem to think will be sometime before summer.
Assuming you had the hard drive space, couldn't one theoretically copy the file to another location, view the original movie, which then expires 24 hours after its initial viewing, and then repeat this process, enabling you to watch the movie anytime you wish?

Tsarina is the english feminine form. I figure we'd use that instead of tsaritsa...

Welcome to America. The entire legal industry here was built upon splitting the microscopic hairs we call words. It's a very lucrative business.
As such, splitting microscopic hairs seems perfectly appropriate.

A way to eliminate those annoying dual-touch errors in Erotic Photo Hunt.
Apparently they're working on a GooI.
