Well it's really the truth, you can't lock your non-windows office out of the wireless network. So people have to use the cisco method of authentication. It's the monopoly trying to kick in too late really.
This sounds very microsoft, "Let's push a microsoft only standard across the board, for something that already exists." Hopefully it'll make more users change to us.
Meanwhile other companies use things like iPod to lure users.
All the recent competition in the market place is serving us all well. (it seems competition is the only thing that advances technology)
AMD versus Intel
ATi versus nVidia
*nix versus Windows
All of these seem to be getting us better products faster, rather than each bleeding us, the consumer market.(E.g intel have been at P4 2.5GHz for far longer than previous Hz when they were struggling to keep up with AMD performance
We can put them all on a top secret island, and by some stray chance a researchers family could visit the island, to which everything goes insane and they spend a few days avoiding escaped mammoths that somehow managed to breed a massive and uncontrolled population in a short time.
I can't wait for the big scene with the giant mammoth chasing the jeep through a faux jungle.
It's important that MySQL and other similar open source is free of charge, as it reduces the price of web hosting, as you can get a server for a good cost and everything that runs on top of it is now open sourced. Dramatically bringing down the price of smaller upstarts to host on the web.
Geeks in general like the war chalking idea, it gives them the net when they are out. Hence they aren't so likely to begin h@x0Ring networks once they get the opportunity, otherwise people will take heed to secure their networks and ruin the fun of wireless networking. Besides if people were so interested in hacking someone's computer, why not do it the easy way, there are tonnes of IIS servers just waiting to be hacked.
It's possible that yours is an LG, which seem to be a popular, good quality, analogue input LCD screen.
On a side issue, it's important to note that while they drive down the price of analogue LCD, this drives down the price of Digital input LCD, as their differences aren't as marketable as their quality difference.
i was just bringing up a valid point, and from this real-world example, rather than the theoretical example you speak of, the other effected party fixed it in 90 minutes, we're still waiting for the microsoft fix.
SO sure it takes more time you say... but in this real world example the only party we're waiting for is microsoft.
Theoretically you are right, but microsoft doesn't follow you either.

"Microsoft officials said it makes sense for the operating system to provide cryptographic services to any application that needs it, instead of each application having to include its own cryptographic technology."
However from this example alone, we can already see that if each program did have it's own crypto, then the user would be much more secure, rather than relying on Microsoft for security(akin to getting hounds to mind a butchers store.)

When I discovered that my friends were on iChat, I immediately downloaded AIM and registered, to my surprise the AIM download link that i was given pointed to a version that was not only out dated, but completely incompatible with.mac users. Selecting "upgrade" from the "My Aim" menu (and some time waiting for the download) i was presented with the ability to chat with my.mac friends.
Apple makes all their money in hardware, it's to their advantage that their software is as appealing as possible to encourage more hardware purchase.
Unlike microsoft on the other hand, where a bug-filled windows installation will result in a possible future upgrade, and where an operating system that gets slower over time(despite not even installing anything) will result in hardware sales and thus another microsoft purchase (usually bundled).
For these reasons you get working almost faultless software from Apple, and a potential nightmare with Microsoft.
Really? I heard reviews that suggested that the 800mhz models were cooler than previous specs such as the old 667, and that "throughout an entire week of use" the fan only came on once, and only for a few minutes.
valid point, i usually tell users to write all file names in lower-case, however things like geocities have taught users about the differences in upper and lower case.
People have the knowledge to understand it. I also pass it off "it's just like a password" your password BLUEBIRD23 isn't the same as your bluebird23. It's not beyond common users to understand case.
Additionally you can just display the files in a view, and they will quickly learn that case matters.
Any one used Mac OS X recently? I think linux should borrow some apple solutions, as apple tend to know how to make things for the common user, while the linux crowd seems to have proved the opposite. Everyone would like linux to replace windows, but everyone wants to make it bigger and better, and not actually come back down to earth and solve the basic issues.
A friend of mine was having her second wedding, for the first, she did the usual all the relatives flown in from where-ever they are, big flowing white dress, diamond ring, etc, etc.
When that marriage finished, and life went on just for her to meet someone new and decide to do it all again, however she's done tradition, and she's certain that the relatives don't want to be bothered out every time someone decides to get a divorce and married again.
Her ring was a beautiful dark ruby, in white gold. Looking more like something you'd see in the lord of the rings.
After you forfill the tradition, you might as well go out and do everything your way, a ring you like (and doesn't look like your first) with the stone you really want on your finger, and not one that you chose because everyone else has been doing it for years and you may-look not so loved without a diamond.
The point being, she had a ring she enjoys, looks good, and by god it cost far more than her first [ring of diamond].
I think people missed what i was saying, but none the less said it in the replies.
Introducing dual g4's is a nice way to ensure that the computers keep getting faster and stay competitive, which could be a method in which they are buying time for the G5.
Technically speaking, the roadmap for the g4 suggests that it wasn't meant to be such a high speed chip, and rather they are already stepping into parts of the g5's road map in terms of sheer mhz.
The suspicion of getting rid of the "g4" so to speak is the other side of the balance, with reports that remaining stock on g4's is still plentiful, putting a g4(a rather powerful processor) into everything except the ibook, is a really clever way to ensure that the number of G4's that go out the door are increased.
Additionally there is no difference between "being overstocked" and "attempting to reach sales targets for a chipset", either translate into more sales needed before a transition. I'm not saying anything ground breaking here, just providing potential reasons for either direction they may take.
It's very likely that apple are pumping out dual g4 systems to simply get rid of the remaining g4 chips, (like how you get them in everything now except the iBook). This could on the opposite side be apple introducing speed updates and time for an even longer wait for the G5.
The companies should refuse the ISP unions offer (or rather form of blackmail), after all who will join an ISP where you don't have access to the sites that you will most regularly visit, whether it be for online email, instant messaging, news or software updates.
Take all those away and you basically leave your customers in the dark.

I wrote it as current underdog versus established partner. By chance the 3 established happen to be in each others beds.

Unfortunately the rumours about powerbook upgrades to 1ghz, weren't fruitful... damn
Pretty smart that they are getting into the truth early.
