uhh... OK. If you want to do that, you could. Personally, my infatuation switching wires every time I wanted to play a game is over, but whatever floats your boat.
Still, I don't see any reason to spend an extra $250-300 to play the game.
you don't know what the parent is talking about then. See, in Japan they have these kiosks where you can simply open your DS, select "DS Download Play," and look for these types of transmissions. They have been around for about a year in Japan, giving demos and, in the case of Band Brothers, additional content.
I'm sorry, but my 20" RCA SD CRT is going to have to make it through this generation. I'd love to throw a grand down the toilet, but I guess I'll wait until congress finally forces me to.
But on the flipside of that, any business with servers that critical are paying for experts to keep that from happening. Most of the Windows problem is that people do not patch their systems in a timely manner and people open files that they should not. That doesn't apply for your average *nix user.
While this might be true, I think you should take into account the frequency of said viruses [theregister.co.uk]. When's the last time a massive virus attack has taken down entire networks of Unix machines?
Don't you think that if everyone moved to *nix based systems that the virus writers would change their focus?

"We encourage community building among our players with others of similar interests, and we understand that guilds are one of the primary ways to forge these communities. However, topics related to sensitive real-world subjects -- such as religious, sexual, or political preference, for example -- have had a tendency to result in communication between players that often breaks down into harassment."
This is an entire paragraph, and as you can see by the link above, it is not taken out of context.
Lets analyze this phrase closely: However, topics related to sensitive real-world subjects -- such as religious, sexual, or political preference. Catholics, for example, frown upon any marrage outside the Catholic church, and I personally know some priests that would freak out at World of Warcraft let alone the idea of two characters marrying in it. If you are Catholic, and have designs on staying Catholic, you marry in a Catholic church. This seems like it might be a "sensitive real-world subject--such as religious preference" that Blizzard might want to avoid.
They don't seem to care about that one.
Marriage is religious. Some religions would be fine with a WoW marriage, others... wouldn't, and I'm only talking about heterosexual marriage. Oddly enough, the religions most likely to be OK with WoW marriages are the religions most likely to be OK with gay marriages.
People argue that WoW isn't about these type of issues. That people should have a place to have fun shielded from these arguments. I say bullshit. Blizzard opened the door by allowing fake quasi-religious ceremonies. Now that they won't allow certain people to partake, they have created the same classed system that people bought the game to escape. The marriage doesn't even fucking count. Why the hell would you put something like that in a game if you wouldn't let certain people use it?
I'm writing about the marriage issue here, but the argument applies to many more issues. Read it again: religious, sexual, or political preference. The sword cuts both ways. Just because the apparent majority of players have a certain religious, sexual, or political preference does not mean that allowing them and only them to express themselves is not a "sensitive real-world subject" to those who are not in the majority. Are you going to stop parties from voting on a plan of action, because certain Communist players might be offended by that?
In conclusion, Blizzard, put up or shut up. Take all touchy real-world issues out of your game.

Cinematics Do Matter?

Cinematics may matter. I'm not going to hold my breath. The grand majority of games that people consider to have "epic narritives" can't live up to dime-a-dozen pulp fiction. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who didn't care when Aeris died. I'm even more certain that I don't want to read what passes for a story in Ridge Racer 4.
On the rare occasion a game actually have a well written story, then, by all means, tell it however you want to. If not, don't force me to watch it.
Right now, you can get a GameCube, Super Smash Brothers, Resident Evil 4, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and Animal Crossing all new for $200 before tax. Value gaming is on the consoles especially at this time in the generation cycle.
And I don't know about anyone else, but I am fed up wrestling with PC games to get them to work correctly.
Maybe if they did call the lawyers, certain "journalists" would start publicly and constantly speculating that they called the lawyers because the books were true. Or, at the very least, their commitment to the first amendment would be called into question repeatedly.
I'm not saying they shouldn't have done it, but the Liberal Crushing Machine that the media has become is a daunting foe to fight.
Well, oddly enough, "The Truth About Hillary", a book that describes Hillary Clinton as a lesbian, has not been pulled off of shelves. Neither has that Swift Boat Veterans book about Kerry. It seems that certain lies are more bothersome to certain people.
If you want to read a good book by a liar and a convicted felon, I hear G. Gordon Liddy has a new one coming.

Yes, but then upgrading your PC would be cheaper than buying a 360, Halo 2, and an HDTV.
Now that you mention it, I do, but when I first saw the story on the front page, it had the Einstein head icon.
There is always the chance that the RAM, GPU, Blu-Ray drive, or something else would end up in short supply.
My guess is finished software.
Hi! I'm Hitch for $30.
Please buy me.
I'm sorry, but my 20" RCA SD CRT is going to have to make it through this generation. I'd love to throw a grand down the toilet, but I guess I'll wait until congress finally forces me to.
I haven't seen a single picture proving that all premium XBOX 360s have been sold.
The policy should be: anything that breaks game immersion is verboten. Get a clue, Blizzard, or get lost.
I hope you spoke up about this problem when Christian guilds were forming.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

so I'd like to say...
SUCK IT YOU FUCKING ROACHES!
I feel better now.

Here was an official comment on the decision to stop players from advertising LGBT friendly guilds:
"We encourage community building among our players with others of similar interests, and we understand that guilds are one of the primary ways to forge these communities. However, topics related to sensitive real-world subjects -- such as religious, sexual, or political preference, for example -- have had a tendency to result in communication between players that often breaks down into harassment."

Posting on slashdot never fails to show me how little I really know. Well, I was right in the end result at least.
Soap is antibacterial. "Antibacterial soap" is foolish redundancy.

Until they don't, expect publishers to keep printing them.*

They certainly didn't trust any of the reports that the Lake Ponchartrain levees were about to break, so I think we're in the clear.
Wouldn't it be a little too obvious if the Anti-Christ were a lesbian?

Yes, but where is the incentive for anyone to get their video this way?
Companies have to realize that the problem is the $20 per disc, not the fact we have to drive down the block to buy the movie.
