Half of them are sports clones.... Why not just release the 4-5 decent games and have a stellar-rated lineup then filling up the shelves with crap?
Because people will play and buy the crap. The sports game market is huge. I'm not a sports gamer myself, but it's clear to see they sell big and pull in huge piles of cashy money.

We're not just all the linux community. I'm a whole-hearted Mac guy. I've got 4 of them in the house right now.
As for the main topic, Xbox. You do raise a good point about people that planned on hating it end up drooling over it. I wanted to hate that thing. You could argue I still do. But I own one. Its a love/hate relationship. I love what it can do, but I hate who gets the money in the long run.
This is just terrible.
I buy console systems because I want a console system. A stand-alone, game machine. It works great as a game machine because that's all it does... it plays games. Its not trying to be everything.
Throwing a game console into a huge distributed processing network is a bad idea in my mind. All the problems that will be introduced with this strategy are enough for me to not want one.
Game consoles owe part of their success to the fact that they work 99.9% of the time. I put in a game, I turn it on, and it works; and it works the same every time. I don't see this being the case with a distributed network of PlayStations.
I so agree with you... yes, Final Fantasy was a little weak in the storyline department. However, animation alone, it was a major breakthrough and a beautiful movie. This is a horrible oversight.
No, I was giving the Cube credit... whoever originally posted wasn't. All he takled about was XBox and GBA. I have my Cube, I love it, and I'm just patiently awaiting some kick-ass games for it. Initial game release has been a little weak, but so was the PS2's initial offerings. Cube is going to be a force in the months to come.
The Cube version has some graphical and control issues? Well, after about 12 hours of gameplay, I haven't experienced any of those yet. I'm extremely impressed with the Cube release.
I'm not saying the issues may not be there, just if I've encountered them, they haven't affected the experience by one iota.
I don't know what the bigger waste of time is... reading the original article or reading the Slashdot comments to it.

Looks like your screwed. Sorry.
Uhhh... the use of the word "apes" actually comes from the article, not the usual M$ bashers...

Nintendo GameCube was mentioned in the same breath as XBox and GameBoy Advanced in that article... give credit where credit is due.

This isn't my usual style of game, but man, is it addictive. A definite must-buy... especially if you have a GameCube.
