  1. Re:PDF the format for magazines now? on New Free Open Source Enterprise Magazine · · Score: 1

I've always found my iBook to be too heavy to read comfortably this way. I do most of my reading sitting on the train or sitting up in bed. So I ended up using my Dell Axim most of the time. The screen is a bit too small though.

Bring on an ultra light-weight 10" Apple tablet Mac!

Who the fuck on Slashdot would use software as shitty as this, that isn't even free??

  3. Re:Weekly piracy report on Pirates Thwarted by Sonic Weapon · · Score: 1

How could your comment be moderated insightful? Interesting perhaps, but insightful???

Methinks you've been playing too much Call of Duty. It's damn hard to shoot long guns accurately on a ship that's heaving and rolling on the ocean. The rule of thumb when engaging vehicles, boats or hardened targets is that you need some decent firepower, and that means 7.62mm or .50caliber heavy machineguns or bigger. Don't forget that these pirates may be shooting at you as well, which makes your job that much harder.

As a web designer I agree, the "re-designed" Onion site is awful. I'm not sure if it's all his blame though -- sometimes the client gives you no leeway.

I'd like to think that if someone ordered me to make an awful site design like that I'd simply say "fuck off, I'm not touching that", but you never really know until you're in that situation.

Going through a heat wave above ground in a ventilated or open area is quite different to being trapped in an enclosed space in 30+ degree heat.

This is why kids trapped in a car can die from heat exhaustion even though the heat outside is quite bearable.

The politicians actually say that the terrorists "want to take away our freedom". The ironical, fucked up thing is: it's not the terrorists that are taking away our freedoms, it's the politicians -- by introducing draconian "anti-terror" laws.

Yeah, there's a lot of scumbags, murderers and rapists running aorund loose. But most of those who were left behind were just ordinary people with no means of escape.
