  1. Journalism errors on Nintendo, Sony Start Handheld Gaming Battle At E3 · · Score: 4, Informative

I'm not even past the first few paragraphs, and I've already found errors:

In fact, the Game Boy Advance is carrying a lot of water for the company, since the GameCube, Nintendo's flagship gaming console, is rapidly falling behind the PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox in sales.

Since when is the GameCube rapidly falling behind the XBox in sales?

In case you haven't been in close proximity to any 12-year-olds in the past five years, the Nintendo Game Boy Advance is a $100 portable game device the size of a slice of bread.

Wrong. The Game Boy Advance SP is $100, the normal Game Boy Advance runs around $70.

I guess we've all just gotten so used to the mainstream media just getting their facts wrong that people don't even notice anymore.

Nice try, but that's not what I've been doing with my AMD systems. Like I said, it's just my experience, I don't pretend to state that every AMD customer will experience what I have.

My one humble opinion. I was an AMD loyalist from ~ 1998 to 2003. However, I've always had more crashes, more freezes and faster dying computers using AMD. Last year I switched to Pentium and my new machine runs like a charm. I don't expect my one story to make any difference, but you asked.

Ultimately, I think Intel's just run "better" than AMD's, at least in Windows. I have no statistics or facts, but just my experience in the last few years.

Using the Belkin car charger, I connected it to the iPod mini and placed the iPod into the acrylic piece at the angle I wanted, then flipped the whole piece over and poured another layer of dental acrylic over the protruding edge of the iPod mini and the car charger, creating a perfectly snug fit for the iPod to rest into and connect to the charger.

It sounds like he build the fitting to hold the charger (which he mentions below also holds the line-out for the audio), so he can just slide it into the fitting and it all hooks up. Am I wrong?

I definately applaud the authors of it if they have, in deed, really developed this software. I don't want to take away from their accomplishment, but I'm just feeling cautious.

But the more I've been thinking about this, I'm really starting to think this is a hoax. Think about it: how many times have you seen something home-grown like this and not been able to download anything? Not the app, not the source code, nothing. It's usually the reason these things get web pages to begin with. Why brag about it if you aren't going to distribute it, or at least sell it. All we have for proof are some screen shots and some wav files.

I guess I don't really have proof that it's fake other than a feeling. It just seems like this is a rather over-the-top way of dealing with the problem. 25. Re:Lies on New Tool Cracks Apple's FairPlay DRM · · Score: 1

So my question would be would most resonable people except such restrictive terms when buying the rights to music? I personally would not consider iTunes terms resonable.

That is a complete and total cop-out. Apple present the license of use when installing the program. It is completely obvious to anyone who cares about DRM that the DRM is there. Anyone who goes to break the DRM would obviously know what they are doing. Any reasonable person could see this. And besides, the reasonableness clause you are talking about cannot be invoked by simply saying "I don't find the terms reasonable." Don't agree to the contract then. This is refering to a person not forseeing the breech ahead of time, which you were obviously aware of. You knew you would be breeching the contract when you broke DRM. Just because you don't agree with the terms doesn't mean you can null and void them.

And ultimately, the breech of contract with iTunes could result in damages to Apple because of the possible loss of business they could experience with the music industry.

You can try to legally and morally justify your behavior all you want, but when it comes down to it, the DRM present is completely reasonable. You can copy the files to a limited number of computers. You can burn the music to an unlimited amount of discs. You can even go and rip that music back to MP3 or whatever format you like. It does, however, present a small level of difficulty to prevent casual copying.

How exactly does this DRM infringe on your immaginary rights of fair use? Not to say fair use is imaginary, but "fair use" as described on Slashdot 90% of the time is.
