The burden of following the law will fall onto the business. If you sell enough stuff over state lines and draw attention to yourself, the state will want their share. It's your responsibility to pay them or otherwise face legal consequences.

All these reasons are why cross state sales tax should not happen. It is definitely a burden for small timers.

Over-burdensome regulation was a listed reason as to why there are fewer startups, as mentioned in an article posted earlier.

  2. Rick's correct. I use to be Libertarian but clearly, what's the point? I switched to Republicans and Democrats early on in the primary season to participate in the election I think will matter the most.

I'm a huge Ron Paul fan so I made sure to be in the Republican primaries to vote for him.

I really liked Bernie Sanders so I switched to Democrat so I could vote for him.

If I see someone on the Republican field that I want to help push to the general election, I'll switch back.

I know it's against the rules to read the article, maybe even the summary, but fewer startups has been a trend over the past 30 years. Trump wishes he had the godlike powers you seem ascribe to him.

I probably hate Hillary more then you hate Trump, but do I bring it up every thread or even EVER!!! No, so get over it. You should be happy he is pushing so hard for a blue wave that will ideally remove him from office. I could definitely be okay with that, but Pence would be a whole different kind of bad too.

You have to be a customer to get it for free, so it's not really free. Sure, I get that the bill isn't going to go up and a subscriber would get additional benefits but they are still paying every month.

My cable company recently raised the download speeds, as if I can tell the difference between 50mb and 100mb 99.99% of the time. Most of the time, my download speed is not the limiting factor but rather the server I'm requesting from that has the slow down. They did this without changing my Internet bill. Ironically though, they did increase the cable bill and box rental fee along with a a tax increase. Almost think they want me to cut the cord and try out sling.

Point being, they gave me increased download speeds for the same price but it certainly is not free because I still pay my bill every month. I actually went to their site to see if the tier below was good enough to drop down to. Naturally they only raised the top two tiers of service but not the bottom two.

In closing, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

This is fairly true. My wife and I only make 90k a year. If I would just buckle down and go earn another 60 units for a BS, I may very well be able to get a job that's 30k better then my current offering. Heck, I may even be able to do if without the education if I'm just willing to work 12 hour days.

I accept that I don't really want to work 12 hour days and I also don't want to pay the cost and time to get the 60 credits to put myself in the position to maybe get the job that pays 30k more.

At the end of the day, I'm happy enough only living in a condo. In a couple years we won't have any CC debt, my car will be paid off and we'll be able to safe a bit more for retirement and take a real vacation yearly instead of every three years. She'll get to upgrade from a Malibu to a Lexus in all likely hood. It's all about choices as Jedidiah said.

Who knows, maybe the city and real estate builders will construct a slew of small houses to help with the very real housing shortage (HAHA sure they will) and we can get one.

AC may be paranoid but that doesn't make AC necessarily wrong. Most TV's can spy on you. Your smart phone most certainly can spy on you. All those voice assistants are of course listening. We have seen different articles over the past months and years that show just that happening.

Unless you give up modern life, you are going to be spied on. Maybe if you move to a less technical part of the world and give up all your fancy computer tech, you may gain back privacy.

Is privacy really worth giving up that much? I may hate that the 4th is dead in all but name, but I'm not going to go live in a cave in Afghanistan just to say I have privacy. Likely that wouldn't even be true. Probably satellites watching the entire country anyway.

Moving into a new tax bracket should only affect the money that bracket starts at. At least when speaking in regards to USA federal tax income, it's in tiers. The first 10k is at one rate, then 10,000.01-20k will be taxes at a higher rate, the next 10k at a 3rd rate.

Moving into a higher bracket just means that anything earned over the threshold will be taxes at the higher rate. Moving into a new bracket doesn't mean all your prior money is taxed at the highest possible rate.

Maybe things are different in your country, but that's how USA federal income works.

They are a last resort for most normal gun owners. If someone breaks into my house in the middle of the night, I immediately get my gun, call the cops and stay in my bedroom. With only my wife and pets to be concerned about, I don't need to go hunt some person down in the dark but if they come through that bedroom door they will be dead before they know it.

I'd really hate to shoot someone, especially in my house. Some how that would hurt my property value and I would have a terrible memory. The restoration of the place would be a royal pain as well. I'd rather have to deal with all that, then not have a last resort in the way of a firearm. I'm not Chuck Norris so I'll keep my gun.

That is a last resort and to take that from responsible gun owners is crazy. If I wasn't home, I would want my wife to have access to a gun because while she waits for the cops, she would be otherwise defenseless. Pretty shitty if you ask me.

This is especially true if you spend most of your time in a web browser or specific application for most of your work. Only problem is, who the fuck wants to live in Yuma if they were already quite happy living in San Diego? Companies need to be in decent locations to attract the kind of talent they want for their business. Sure, there are techies that would probably be okay living in Yuma as opposed to San Diego, but I'm willing to bet there are many more that would take the same job in San Diego and be happier. If you are so sure of this, what you are personally doing to help get the word out to support democratic candidates in November? If all you are doing is fear-mongering on Slashdot, I don't think that will help at the polls. Get enough Democrats in Congress, and Trump will be removed. If the will of the people can't be bothered to vote in the people that will get the job done, then clearly even a simple majority do not agree with you. So if I were you, I would get to work in convincing as many people to vote for a Democrat in November, otherwise, you aren't really doing much to help your own perceived problem, are you?
