to a regular user restarting windows is MUCH easier than restarting X. a dialog box comes up that says "we must restart your PC" you click ok, and wait a minute or 2. on linux a regular user most likely has an X based login daemon, so as soon as you kill X with ctrl-alt-backspace it starts up again instead of dropping you to a console. you can always go to a console with alt-ctrl-f1, but what user is gonna know that either. anyway, so you plug the monitor in. since x is not ready for it, you must restart x blindly.
I have not even mentioned that you will need to go into the xf86config and tell it to use a different screen to begin with, since it doesn't autodetect.
It is a valid complaint.
dick size? it doesn't even matter that it was HIS laptop. he just said that the card in question performs better than the guy above him expected. chill the fuck out
i think he is not just talking about AIM, but AOL's built in instant messaging (that AIM later extended to people not using the AOL client) which was around for many years (back in aol 1.0 even.)
and how is this the rumor mongers fault? whether the rumpor guys were there or not, most people expect apple to make a big announcement at the expos, so this would happen anyyway, and i think apple needs to get used to it, instead of trying to control the way thier customers give them thier money.
what i was saying is that when the g5 really isn't released, they stop holding off and just buy the currently available one. not everyone gets the new one as soon as it is out.
and since the law (seemingly to them) does not effect them because they have no interest in watching dvd's in linux and are haoppy paying $20 for a silver platter with 1 good song (if that) on it, they really won't care because it's not thier constitutional rights being sodomized.
but MS did not port office over to the bsd layer. apple has thier own api's and toolkits that run on top of the BSD layer. you should know this, it's basic knowledge. you can't simply take something written specifically for OSX and compile it on freebsd. you must also port those toolkits, api's etc...
no, microsoft has the hebrew code in the windows version of office. the mac and windows versions do not share the same codebase. they are feature-similar, and file-format-compatible, but that is it. It would take a greeat effort to add hebrew to the mix, and not just because of the different character set, but also the right to left thing.
i live in sweden. at our summer house someone screwed up and ordered only german tv channels for the sattelite dish (bastards!)
I was watching the german news and heard nothing about alexis patterson but there was a 30 minute special report about elizabeth smart.
the telcos will probably also see setting up more than one DSL line at one location as a "business service" as well, and will just say "no, get the 2mbit service instead"
the reason you had a relatively easy time with the mac is not because of it's security. it
's because of it's relative obscurity. people don't find it worthwhile to hack a mac, don't know how, and don't care to... etc. Things might change now that the hacking methods are a little closer than they used to be (now 30 years of unix hacking knowledge may be applied) however, MacOS classic wasn't even included in teh final score (the little rainbow graphic) for some reason, however they do state in the text that MacOS X scored a little higher than it. Take that as you will.

you do not need to restart windows when connecting a new monitor or projector
you don't have to restart the GUI portion of windows to switch to the new monitor. what about in XFree86?

umm... call it maybe? it's a toll free number.
if you are only downloading the mp3's to "try" why do you need a good bitrate?

they hold off on thier purchases until the expo is over and discover that the g5 is stil la ways off... how does apple lose there?
your scenerio (unfortunately) is still piracy. just because you can't find the cd in the store does not mean it is ok to download the osngs from p2p.

sweden does not have a special .gov type TLD. they only have .se and that applies to non-government sites as well as government sites.

maybe you could post some sources, or you could just sounding like a dumbass weating an aluminum foil cap.

yes. and boiling that same water on your stove will also emit much more in a shorter span of time. EVERYONE, STOP BOILING TAP WATER!
look a bit lower on the page for the non-pro free version. it took me a sec too, but found it.
Baby Ruth is a registered trademark of Nestlé, Inc.
or perhaps a simple warcraft fan maybe?

and even though they put in the spaces, there are still page widening posts. ever browse at -1?
