the fact that you're focusing on the racism part other than the database itself, is just sickening. who gives a shit if its targeting minorities or not, thats not the issue. you're right the article does make race the focus, when the databse itself should be what they're worrying about. the race of the people in the database should come second.
the thing is, while the stones and zeppelin are good and extremely influential, people need to get over them being gods. there are PLENTY of fantastic great bands nowadays. Fugazi, Counting Crows, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, U2. In fact, I'm one who just cant stand led zeppelin.
Does anyone else see the irony in the people's negative comments? i bet half of the slashdotters spent their youth clamouring over tempest and asteroids.
im sorry, i have to disagree. this move of the RIAA is to help them get a stronghold on something they dont yet have. I VERY much enjoy 3wkUnderground Radio. I have yet to find a station, over the air or web, that matches its variety. It is NOT corporate sponsored so real artists get their music heard and are not studio creations. They arent trying to make internet radio work, they're trying to make a profit. What about all of those bands that are independant and are on labels not a part of the RIAA? what about them? Web radio is how i found out about ALOT of music and is what turned me off to the crap the RIAA puts out. please think about their true intentions.
i agree...used redhat 7.2 and Mandrake8.0 both running KDE and i dont see what the fuss is all about. as much as i detest M$, Linux is nothing to croon over.
if you're in Virginia, as i am, you can request a state issued ID number, withholding your SSN. Im not that stupid to allow my SSN on a peice of plastic easily stolen.
damnit damnit damnit damnit!
GODDAMNIT!!!
utter bullshit! I have purchased nearly 50 CDs from listening to 3WK underground. oh wait, im sorry, they werent any bands that the shitty RIAA puts out. heaven forbid i listen to independant music.
Incredible response. im fucking sick of these people that think we need to give up our freedoms to protect ourselves. if the gov't has the freedom, then you know what? you can be sure as hell they're gonna use it.
yea if you listen to the shitty radio. PLENTY of great music is being released daily. Independant labels like Subpop and Barsuk, put out some fantastic bands. another label, Vagrant Records, great rock and roll label. if you're gonna make a broad statement about the entire music scene, get the facts straight.
yea i think someone recently said that gillette practically gives away the Mach3 razors, but charge and arm and leg for the blades. its where they make their money. i've had the same razor since 1998.
i love how people think that because people arent out there as sysadmins or CEO's or whatever, that somehow they are shit. when are people going to stop being so damn pompous.
i agree...i dont listen to any of that garbage on MTV. yet i find myself buying about 4-5 cds a month. check out some bands that arent mainstream, bands like www.deathcabforcutie.com www.getupkids.net www.ozmaonline.com
Fugazi is the ultimate example of what bands can really do. they dont need a major label, they need to tour, tour, and tour. you dont need hit after hit after hit on radio stations that all the play the same 10 songs in the same order because Dj's are spineless and the program directors are told what to play by upper management. isnt that whats it about anyway. the guy earlier said that playing the same songs every night sucks. then what the hell is the point of being in a band? creating and playing music for yourself and, if its your goal, people to enjoy it.
am i wrong or is IE completely integrated into windows. i know there have been 3rd party apps made to take out IE in win95/98, but i wonder if it can be done on 2k/XP?
as being an ex-netscape user, i think IE is a great browser, but i also think there should be an option.
i have an AT&T cable connection in Richmond, VA, and i get VHS quality on both real player and media player. in fact, i get less sync errors and less buffering with real player. But i also have a friend that has the same provider as i, and is in the same situation as you. who knows.
does anyone else notice that if this box is doing all this stuff at once, PVR, transmitting tv signals to 4 different tv's, acting as a gateway/router, etc., its gonna need to be a powerhorse. i have a hard time believing that it can do all of those things simultaneously without some serious performance cut backs.

havent used one in about 4 years. trash em.
wishful thinking nothing. the best music out there today is on idependant music labels.. not shit RIAA labels.

i could just be reading your post wrong, but DIVX and DiVX;-) are two entirely different things.

why is it that even people on slashdot get kb and KB mixed up? 150kb/sec is not the same as 150KB/sec.
it also might help if you spelled the bands name correctly, barenaked ladies, im sure you'd get more hits that way
