They do "have a shot". We the people get no real say in what bills get passed or not. Best we can do is vote the current person out of office, at which point they get a cushy job in the industry they represented and a new industry spokesperson takes their place.
So long as corporations are "people" (which if they are, wouldn't buying stocks be slavery?) and money is "free speech" there's not much we can do about it.
Many years ago I wrote a shareware HTML editor. It won awards and was featured on the cover CD of PC World magazine. Shortly after that a German pirate group released a crack for it (the application was not limited, the unregistered version just had a nag screen which the crack removed). Millions of downloads, no registrations as a direct result. For almost a decade, searching Google etc for the application would result in the first several pages being links to the crack. This pissed me off to no end, and in fact I still get people trying to request support on a cracked copy.
However, the idea that I would hold Google responsable is just stupid, and that is what these bills do.
I am staunchly against piracy. I write software for a living and it would be hypocritical of me to be otherwise. I am very much pro copyright as I do not want large companies like Microsoft taking my work and claiming it as their own. But the current laws, which put the onus of reporting copyright violations on the copyright holds, are more then adequate.
Better yet, go to your Congressman's web page and post to their Twitter feed etc. Post a link to the Pirate Bay and explain that the Congressman's web site is now in violation of SOPA and would be shut down under the law.
It should be modular and have upgrade slots following ISO standard interfaces. Perhaps give the option of one or many Intel or AMD cpus and have different graphic options from both NVidia and ATI. Oh, and upgradeable storage & memory.
The most famous of which is "never get involved in a land war in Asia" - but only slightly less well-known is this: "Never get involved in a covert war with an Israeli opponent".
You can live without the game. If a company acts like this, stop buying their products. I will no longer buy Eidos games after they stuck Star Wars blu-ray advertisements in Dues Ex. Likewise I will not buy Ubisoft games because of the DRM. I am staunchly against piracy since I write software for a living and am not a hypocrite, if companies see no sales and no torrents of a title they may start to wonder why that is.
This sounds like a trade school. High School should be about learning how to think and process information. Once you've learned how to learn you can go on to learning a trade. Its bad enough so many schools are now about being able to pass tests.
After all, they could grow up to be resentful teen agers that could vandalize my property. So I really had no choice but to slit their throats, chop them up into kibble and feed them to the hogs.
Lets see, CA state deficit is 13 billion. We pay an estimated 100 billion a year to the Federal government and get back around 78 billion in services. By my math that leaves 9 billion left over for us to waste somehow.
Actually, California gets less back from the federal government then we pay out. We would be in much better financial shape if we didn't have to subsidize other states.
Nope. But the Pirate Bay will see a sharp decline in use. I know I for one cant be bothered with magnet links. If I cant get the torrent as a string I'm not really interested in going through another layer of abstraction.

Freedom of communication, speech, association, congregation are not human rights?
Not sure why this is news. There's a reason your record is expunged when you turn 18. Perhaps the same should apply to online accounts.
Why install Linux on your toaster? Cause you can.
There's a reason copper or gold is used in circuit boards despite silver being a far better conductor, how does this new solution avoid corrosion?

Really. Those guys (and gals) dont play fair.
Reviewers are sent copies of the games by the game companies. Bet you a doughnut that they send DRM free versions to be reviewed.
I tried to not buy Apple products but I ended up not buying Samsung products due to how simular they where and the marketplace confusion it caused.

That sounds kind of ominous.
So I better kill you, because you said you'd kill me if I was going to kill you.

What if all the middle class moved out
Both of them?

Prediction 1 : I'll be dead.
Prediction 2 : Don't care. See prediction 1.
The day Facebook makes your data truly private is the day they start charging for using their products. How do you think they make their money?
If you gave the data to Facebook, it was never private in the first place.
Then what? Then they will see if people actually care enough to stop using Apple products. They will find that they dont, and life will go on.

so most people wont notice a new build.
