For those that are happy with the Apple Mail client then their is another popular crypto solution to protect your privacy. PGP, you know it, it is available in the form of GPG (the GNU Privacy Guard) and there is currently a rather well developed set of tools for Mac OS X (Here.) Including the GPG base, and addons to Mail.app so u can easily encrypt and decrypt your mail using the wide PGP standard.
I dont know about you, but I never pay any attention to EULA be they on a book, hardware, software or whatever...
Unless of course it is a Micro$oft product; In that case I always check for the "The user herein releases all rights to their soul to the Micr$oft Corp."
There is no reason to be concerned at all, i prefer not to use jpegs or gifs, instead i have opted to use exclusivly PNG for their better compresion, and not to mention they look at heck of alot better too.
It seems to me that it will indeed become ".Mac", however, i beleive that many of the recent rumors especially this one, were generated to throw people off from whatever it is that Jobs wanted to keep a secret. If u look around , Apple is makin a big dead about people watchin the keynote speach, and it seems that if it were in fact all BAD NEWS like this, that they would try and down play it a bit. ANd if it turns out that it is true, then i have but one conclusion.... JOBS IS AN RVIL ROBOT BUILT BY MS!, QUICKLY WE MUST DESTROY IT BEFORE IT RUINS APPLE!
I find it ironic that on their site the only cons they abould list about using Linux is with problems interfacing with MS/Windows systems. Seems to me like thats their problem, not ours.

It seems to me that if you cant spend 20 mins reading and configuring apache from httpd.conf, then u shouldn't be running a webserver at all, as its completely "idiot proof". Additionally what the heck is it doing as a windows only app? If it were a *nix proggy or even OSX then that might make a bit more sense. I think it best that i stop here before i start ranting about the evil empire and whatnot..
My mom all of a sudden asked why her computer was running better than usual and looked cooler, when I went to investigate i discovered that i had left it booted in Linux rather then windows.
How anal retentive can these freaks get, its becomming more and more impossible not to give out your personal information, now they wanna know what people are watching...rewinding....then watching again....then rewinding...then watching again. HOW STUPID ARE THEY, I can save them the trouble and tell them right now. ITS PORN!!!!!!!
i have 2 Newton 120s and would love nothing more then for apple to release a PDA, though a wearable would be wicked cool, and right up Apple's ally where all the cool toys hang out.
WOW, I almost beleived that...

Listen, this is America, and the last time I checked i have the right to bitch about whatever I like. And At least I have the courage to stand up for my convictions, Anonymnous Coward. Sure I could pay 30 bucks a year, but its not about being able to get the mail form my yahoo account via POP3, but more a matter of entrapment, Its a pain in the ass for me to have to go to the extra trouble of loging in to yahoo to check my account, the issue here is that it is near impossible to get rid of an account that I have had for so many years, and cannot at this point be sure of how many things i use it for. Hell i have my own SMTP server, which i use now, but the point it I still need to check my yahoo account(despite the fact that I get shitloads of crap mail from that stupid thing). Hense I am trapped to wither cough up the 30 bucks for what was free until now(or rather the 24th of next month), or check it now and then. Think of it this way, say that you lived in a house for the last ten years, then decided to move to a private island, but there is no change of address form, and you cant possibly send a letter to everyone you know, everyone who has your address, and any services or what ever would be sending things there.
MY RIGHT TO BITCH IS MY OWN, AND I SHALL CONTINUE TO DO SO. IT MAKES ME FEEL BETTER ABOUT THE HORRIBLE INJUSTICES THAT PLAGUE THIS MORTAL COIL.
