I'd have absolutely no trouble with the death of the floppy, as long as a sane standard came to replace it. 3.5" MO drives are an excellent idea, the media costs a bit, but if everyone had it, the price would drop some.
It really depends on what you're playing and how much you're willing to tinker I *still* use a Matrox G400 in my main machine. I love the image quality, and with the newest drivers and some overclocking I get good framerates. IIRC, the SS50 uses a Savage4. This is a great chipset that has horrible drivers. If your running win9*, you can get it to work nice. Especially in UT with MeTaL and the S3TC textures. It works well in HL games, too. If you're running 2k or xp, gods help you because when I had a savage the drivers for them were really really poor.
Don't let them lie to you. 10.1 was not free I don't have a newer mac, I couldn't afford it unless I sold all my cameras, but I went hunting with my buddy for 10.1 for his shiny G4 tower. You're supposed to be able to bring a proof of purchase into an apple retailer and get a 10.1 cd. We tried every Compusa in the area and even a ma-and-pop shop that only sells apple, none of them would honour this agreement He ended up emailing Apple a poison pen letter, and then buying the update from them anyway.
Well, the old Znyx drivers had built in load balancing. You can get *buy* software progs that do it under NT/2k, but if it's in the drivers I don't have to pay for something twice, you know?:P
Of course, I didn't read the article... Is there any support, planned or actual, for load balancing the on those dual NICs? Like the old Znyx multiport NICs?
As soon as they can come up with a vehicle that isn't completely rediculous looking but still is enviro friendly, I'm all for it. Until then, I'll stick with my only-marginally enviro friendly low-power '80s Japanese vehicles and/or VW diesels
Retrofit some behind-the-tyre electric motors or whatever onto a '66 AMC Ambassador, and I'd be in valhalla. It's hip to be square
What I need is a Mac that isn't insanely overpriced. That's why I've been looking around for 8600/9600 and beige G3s. On ebay they're getting cheaper, slowly, and through 'reputable' used/refurb dealers they're still painfully expensive. I'm avoiding B&Ws and iMacs like the plague, if that was your next suggestion.
I can't stand how expensive the older powermacs and beige G3s are. I need to learn OSX so I can admin it, but I can't afford a box that *runs* the damn thing stupid artificial worth:(
...And most gas stations are not manned by "normal folks", especially on third shift, they are misanthropic nihilists who want all the yuppie/muppie/babyboomer fucks with 65K+(USD) vehicles to die ESPECIALLY when they can't figure out how to pump their own damn gas, even though there are 3 signs on the pump which explicitly state how to use the pump And when you point that out to them, you are the one who is wrong
uh, what?
BMWs aren't eactly low-coinage vehicles my friend. While I detest capitalism as much as the next misanthropic nihilist, communism will not work with a one-race-society.... especially hoomans.
I suggest we kill all the hoomans and start over! ^_^
BTW, I paid nothing for my Toyota pickup and she has 211000 miles on her, the engines never been apart yet is still within new engine specs for leak and compression.
Screw the germans, screw the yuppie toyotas(lexus). Huzzah for all the 80s japanese vehicles!

I generally like to go to Anthrocon but can't afford it this year.
That's $45 for a 'normal' registration.
It's pretty standard faire; being deviant/belonging to a nerd-related sect is not cheap for most anything.
Oh never mind, he just has long hair.
That's alright, I've got my bitch

I've been looking at PC/104 for use in mobile cluster, wearables, and mini-luggables for quite some time, and the main reason why I haven't been able to do any of the projects in my head is because I can't get the damn modules.
Granted, ePay has some stuff sometimes, but it's mostly outdated to the point of unuseability. (useability: I have a pair of Dolch 486 luggables I like. I suppose 486DXes are pushing me, that's the absolute lowest I'd go)
Most of the companies that have real cool pc/104 cpu modules only sell to resellers, and even the high 486/low pentium class ones are *expensive*
Oh well, I'm sure by the time they're completely passe I'll be attending computer 'shows' where we all showcase our hot-rodded pc/104 boxen
Your *17* year old son is going to *fencing* tourneys and *has* to be able to play his 'puter games?

Colour me a misanthropic nihilist, but piss off.
I don't care if this is a troll, SUV-driving, private-school-attending, prig kids who need their fix are not what I want to be reading about on
Yeah dude, how much? It's a relatively cheap, large removable media. It is still useful.
Almost as good as a MO drive
Almost
Zuh? Tablet PCs have been around for a quite a while. Fujitsu, IBM, and Compaq have all released pen pcs starting in the early/mid-90s.
Just because MS is releasing *their* first tablet pc doesn't mean that's it's *the* first tablet pc

MO just makes sense ^_^
One of their 'spy' specials.
Intel agencies have been using IR and LASER beams bounced off of windows of Embassys to hear the conversations within.

There is no way this won't suck :/

I've got GitS on every major media format from the past 20 years sans Betamax and RCA CED, though I doubt it came out on CED

Damn yuppies with their BMWs and dual G4s :(
I already bitched about it in the Macworld thread.

I use xchat in win32 and X11.
I love xchat, but it's a little klunky sometimes
In console I use bitchx.
