    And how much does it cost Microsoft, or any software vendor, to make a disc (their product)? Pennies, I would imagine. The real costs aren't in parst (unless you are building cars), usually, but in research.

    Actually, when they find major bugs (usually security related) they give away fixed versions of IOS for free (Without registering.)

    Hey Pedrito, it isn't a Slashdot problem, its a Firefox problem. To prove this, change the font size (CTRL and plus [+] key) and then change it back (CTRL and minus [-]). Boom, site then renders perfect. Same HTML code, different rendering, means it isn't Slashdot's HTML.

    Sounds like it isn't designed to give you better video than DVI...

    In reguard to the deleting email, the option you are looking for is called Wireless Reconcile. I belive once you turn that on, deleting email on your Blackberry will delete it from your computer's mailbox.

    This is a good thing for spam. Just wait until all of China is using IPv9, then figure out a way to drop any packets that have passed thru IPv9 routers; suddenly no more Chinese packets, and no more spam.

    Actually, /dev as we know it in Linux will go away soon, most likely with 2.6, and be replaced with devfs, which promises to be much cleaner (as well as only have dev entries for hardware you actually have)

    Well, typically ISP Admin's only allow IP's of their subscribers to read news from their servers. There are services out there that will (for a price) allow you to read news from them, but it'll be no where as fast as getting it from your ISP's network will.

    Have you played with the ChatBot on the AI Website? Its pretty impressive..it still has lots of grammer problems (not unlike Slashdot), but it says a lot of impressive stuff.

    I've never used any BSD, but almost all benchmarks I've seen show BSD faster than even 2.4 Linux; however, the Linux marketshare keeps going up and up, dispite BSD being faster (and therefore, better?). I wonder if BSD will eventually die off (or just shrivel) and leave the "slower" Linux to strive (a la BETA/VHS).

    I think they've got it fixed now, but last time I checked out a 2.4.0-test10 (I think) kernel, it was having EXT2 filesystem corruption problems. Thats what I call not exactly ready for prime time...

    Granted, I don't follow the stock market very often, but I just looked at their 3-month prices,and they dropped abou 50% in the last week! Anybody know what caused such a drop? (Granted, the entire market didn't so hot in the last week, but stilll....)

    Mostly likely because 2.4 is supposed to be a stable-series, and they don't want to add a lot of new, not-as-tested-as-much-as-they-want code into unless they have to.
