He said that smart lawyers never sue anyone themselves, it's much more profitable to sue for other people. He told me to make sure to pay taxes as if she was a contractor, and turned back to his work obviously not wanting to be disturbed again.

So two ambulance chasing lawyers would probably just file insurance, and be done with it :).

I am so sick of driving around seeing all these turbines just sitting there idle on windy days because we don't have the transmission lines to get the energy out of here. Amarillo is like the third windiest city in the united states (and no Chicago isn't above us). Funny thing is informed people here know that wind power isn't our cure all, it's just a political football, and we it at the moment.

    3. T Boone is like the most despised person in West Texas. There are what I think to be a lot of conspiracy theories about him here about him trying to steal all of our water, and using wind power as a conduit to do that. There is some anecdotal evidence to support the conspiracy theories, so it's hard to say that they are 100 percent false. What I do believe to be true is that he wants wind power to be huge because he could sell a crap ton of natural gas to generate electricity when the wind isn't blowing.

I personally have gmail pushing email to my cell phone so I get it very fast, and I have rules set up on the server side that if certain people send me emails, or there are certain things in the subject then it forwards the email to the SMS address for my cell phone. This is a much better solution in my opinion than having to open up your phone every time an email comes in.

Email is still king, and in my opinion should remain so. It is a simple elegant superior replacement for the postal letter mail system. Last night I searched my email for an invoice I sent a customer three years ago, and found it within a few seconds, opened the invoice, and printed it out. How in the hell are you going to do something like that with twitter or facebook.

I personally like facebook when I'm sitting somewhere with nothing to do and can open it up on my phone. I don't like twitter because I see no benefit in using it over email+facebook, plus the last few times I tried to get on twitters web site it either crashed, or took forever to come up.

Why do people have such a grandiose view of the native American? They weren't bad people, but they did what all people do, they killed each other for territory, killed as many animals as they could for food, and generally scraped together a life as best they could until disease, hunger, or a neighbor killed them at an early age. They weren't that interested in "the environment", the native Americans around here just moved whenever they killed all the animals where they were at, so they could kill all the animals at a new location.

My wife is part native American, and I think she is beautiful, and so is the culture. However, I'll take what we have over what they had for my kids any day of the week.

Your absolutely right. In fact this is going to have the opposite effect that warmers are hoping for. What's going to happen is electricity prices will go through the roof, gas prices will go through the roof, the economy will plummet, and the social backlash will be so violent that they won't know what hit them. Then all the really cool things that get funded like medical and space research will get killed off because we can't afford them anymore.

Yes humans pollute, they aren't going to stop until the last one is killed off.

What we NEED to do in my opinion is drop all this crap about warming the planet. We only need to be concerned about pollution to the point that it makes people unhealthy. Trust me the planet will survive, it's survived a hell of a lot worse than us, and it's been a hell of a lot warmer with much more abundant life at points. The only thing that will kill the planet is that big ball of fire called sol in 5 billion years or so. What we NEED to do is stop spending the public money in these asinine ways, and start actively colonizing other moons or planets. That's really the only insurance policy we would have against asteroids, plagues, nuclear holocausts, etc.

WE HAVE TO GET OFF THIS ROCK. It's a jail, and someday something will happen to cause our extinction here. I love nature as much as the next person, and spend a fair amount of time out in it, but it's a fleeting anomaly.

It counts the thousand wind turbines I see driving around our high plains in Texas, and it counts the caterpillar machinery it took to install them. It counts the new application some developer in his garage just made that will change the internet, and it counts the caskets that bury the old time civil rights activists, and WW2 veterans.

Inherently the GDP is not evil, it's just a number. Whether you are christian or not there is a wise passage from Paul in the New Testament. The love of money is the root of all evil. Read that again, because it's not misquoted as it is often. The L O V E of money is the root of all evil. Money is neither good nor evil, and can be used for either.

I am reminded of a story about my grandfather who passed when my father was a baby. He and my uncle were getting ready for a hot summer day painting, and had stopped into a small cafe for breakfast. My grandfather got up in the middle of breakfast, walked across the diner and put a 5 dollar bill on a table, then returned to his table, sat down, and started eating again. My uncle asked him why he gave 5 dollars to that man across the room. They were very poor as painters, and there were 8 children (my father being the 8th). My grandfather looked up and said that the man across the room was hungry, and was drinking half sugar half coffee because that's all he could afford, and needed the energy. My grandfather at one point had been that hungry, and had done the same thing with the only nickel he could spare.

That story has stuck with me, and I'll pass it to my children. That 5 dollars was not evil, and it wasn't used in an evil way. However, if my grandfather was not frugal, and did not have the 5 dollars to spare, then he couldn't have helped the man across the room. That's one reason I work so hard to make sure my kids are well fed, and that I can take care of my family. Because once your family, and your future is taken care of then it frees you up to help others, which brings more personal joy than just about any activity I can think of. To that same end Bill Gates could not give retarded amounts of money to charity had he not built up the tons of money in which to distribute. He also wouldn't have been able to employ the thousands at Microsoft, who also built up tons of money and have given tons of money away without becoming rich first.

Shittier (free) healthcare. The main reason U.S. life expectancy is lower is because we tend to run into shit at 75 miles an hour more often since France is only 80 percent of the size 1 state (texas). Our highway system is a bloodbath, and kills us in swaths. Also we are fatter, and that leads to problems, but newflash, health care can't cure you from being a fat ass. Our healthcare is more expensive, and is also the BEST FUCKING HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN THE WORLD. There is a reason all other countries use our drugs, and often at cheaper prices that the US citizens pay.

Then he really surprised me because he got all exited, and started going on about teas and herbs that she could take that would do the trick, and have great effects, with no side effects on the baby. People are free to be ignorant, and companies are free to prey on that ignorance. The only thing that makes the market non-free is the government in the way telling insurance companies they MUST insure people a certain way, giving companies tax write offs for insuring employees, but telling independents like myself that I have to pay taxes on my insurance, and letting people sue doctors over trivial crap causing the docs to do extremely expensive CYA activities. Government once again is the problem, and people only see government as the solution. Look at the case of the DR in new york that wanted to give people unlimited visits to his office for like 75 bucks a month, and stop taking any third party payer. The government gave him a stream of crap about him becoming an insurance company, and a nasty fight to get through it.

You as a consumer are also free to do your own damn homework and use a doctor as a tool towards that decision. That's what we do at our house with us and our kids. We follow our own vaccination schedule, we eat healthy, we exercise regularly, we take vitamins, etc. However, when someone gets really sick, like when I get my once a decade kidney stone I'm really damn glad I don't have to wait on the bureaucratic bullshit of Canada or England to get taken care of.

The inefficiencies and bloat you hate in medicine is almost all caused by middlemen that shouldn't really be there to begin with. Insurance should be high deductible and cover only calamities. Then doctors would bill directly to consumers and we could get away with all the "negotiate rate" crap and get doctors to compete with each other. I guarantee you that the first care to plummet in cost would be dental. If dentists could just tell all customers that payment was due in cash before service then look at all the billing and insurance nightmares they woudln't have to do. Most dentists would drop at least two employees off the payroll immediately.

Medicare is crap, and every doctor and dentist I work for either won't take it, or is working towards not taking it. If the government takes over you can guarantee that it will just be a bigger version of medicare where doctors will get every dime out of the government at your healths expense, and feel justified in doing so because it's such a bitch of a system to deal with.

People just see free as their golden lamb. Free is tax funded crap, and it drags everyone down. Yes I know most people will let their health deteriorate before pulling a dollar bill out of their wallet for it, but why oh why will that same person get behind an inefficient system that will pull out ten times as much from their wallet over their lifetimes for crappier service in a mandatory fashion? Why oh why do people spend all their money on new entertainment systems, and crappy new cars, then beg our gubmint for free health care... I'm so depressed about this attitude of gimme gimme lately.
