The thing about Linux is that nearly every netbook maker is developing a custom Linux distro that removes the cruft and makes it run faster.

Speed is SO NOT the key issue anymore. Netbooks prove this

Netbooks prove the opposite. Throwing hardware at the problem isn't a solution anymore. No one in their right mind is going to run an office suite on a netbook. The browser is the one place where speed and lightweight memory usage *has* been important. That's why netbooks pretty much run browsers and that's it.

You know that when you set up the season pass you can select "First Run Only" and that "Repeats and First Run" is selected by default?

Plus, TiVo resolves conflicts by using the order of the season passes in the season pass manager. If you don't want TiVo to ever miss Lost, move it to the top of the list.

If the first byte has its high bit set, then there is another byte following that contains the next 7 bits of the length.

So a string that's 80 bytes long would have 0x50 as its length byte, and that's the end of it.. 1 byte.

A string that's 280 bytes long would have 0x98 as its first byte, and 0x02 as its second... 2 byte length field.
