One thing that many people don't realize is that with raytracing, it's less computationally intensive to render a sphere than it is to render a single polygon.
So while shadows and reflections are nice.. actual rounded objects are nicer.
Try reading next time. You don't have to wait a week. The shows are available immediately after air. Which is better than iTunes which was next day.. sometimes longer.
I found that quite ironic. NBC fell upwards when Apple shut them out of iTunes. Amazon's Unbox offers better quality and more convenience for me. Being able to download shows directly to my TiVo and watch them in DVD quality had me immediately hooked on Amazon's Unbox. Plus I'm able to shop Unbox from either my TiVo or from any web browser.
Apple would never partner with TiVo because Apple suffers from NIH syndrome.
Apple did not change the firmware to lock out open source users, they added a simple SHA1 hash to better avoid corruption if a sync is interrupted.
Does this make any sense? If sync is corrupted, the hash will be wrong, and the ipod won't play ANY of the music that is on it. Seems like it just exacerbates corruption.
It's happened to me. I brought in a few mp3s that had bad id3 tags. I made fixes in iTunes, and later I brought those files out of itunes and onto my mp3 player (non-ipod), and the id3 tags were reverted back to how they were.
I don't know why. Maybe iTunes writes id3v1 but the files also had id3v2?
As for the first one, funny thing, I have never in my life installed iTunes but my Nano works just fine, out of the box as it were, in amarok under Kubuntu.
If you bought a Nano today, that would not be the case.
This was an update that added (sorely needed, IMHO) anti-data-corruption features to the iPod.
Wow, you really stretched to "explain" this. Too bad you didn't think it through. This update exacerbates corruption issues. If you screw up the database even a little, none of your music is playable. This is the opposite of anti-data-corruption.
The Zen can be synced on linux with Gnomad2. It doesn't require it's own syncing software, windows media player can sync with it directly. I have a zen sleek photo, my wife has a zen vision.
Content provider decides not to allow iTMS (or indeed any, but hey, iTMS is all that's important, right?) users to buy their content online.
As pointed out earlier. Amazon Unbox has NBC content for sale. $1.99 an episode too. Apple lied about the $5/episode bullshit and you people ate it up.
That $5 per episode figure is from Apple, not NBC.
Notice how Amazon Unbox still has NBC's content for $1.99 an episode? Huh, how do they pull that off? Maybe because Apple was exaggerating if not outright lying?
I use php over rails because I don't like the hoops you have to jump through to make rails work with apache. (Including all the crazy behind the scenes rewrite tricks to have more than one rails app on the same host).
No. It means we just get our useful Internet back.
No it doesn't. It means the internet turns into nothing but company websites and ads. The only people who will be on the internet are the people who can afford it.. and those are... wait for it.. advertisers.
If you've got a problem with adblock, it's because you as a webmaster brought it on yourself.
Except that ABP and Filterset.G block non-intrusive ads by default! Adwords are blocked by default. So you're screwing over people who do non-intrusive ads.. people who have never done intrusive ads.
I don't have a problem with blocking ads.. I have a problem with Adblock.
Steve Jobs getting $1 in salary is a tax scam. According to Forbes, Steve Jobs is the highest paid CEO in the country.
You run the risk of Apple bricking it.
No... but IT workers are.
I agree on Alltel. It's the little things that Alltel does that make them so great.
For example, if you order directly from Alltel (as opposed to going to the Alltel store), they'll pay 50% of the shipping.

Same here.

It costs a mere $100 a year to run my own XBLA apps on the 360. And the dev kit is free.
Apple gets $9/month from AT&T per iphone-toting subscriber.
If you hack your iphone so you don't have to sign a 2 year contract with AT&T, Apple only makes $399 off you, instead of $615.
I'd say they have a very big financial interest in preventing you from hacking the iphone.
Because Apple dropped them. NBC didn't pull their video from iTunes.. Apple did.
I thought the ipod didn't come with any software. Instead they directed you to download iTunes.

Maybe no one cares. iTunes DAAP sucks. It's limited to 5 connections per 24 hour period.
If you bought a Nano today, that would not be the case.

Not only that, but last night I used Amazon's Unbox to download a bunch of NBC pilots to my tivo. It was painless and free.
everywhere you used HD in your post.. switch it to digital. digital!=HD

Well then you're an exception. Most of the time, there are tons of complaints and people requesting a mirror.
