This is what I thought too. In fact, I actually timed the strobes on an ambulance with a stopwatch, to see if I could pin down the timing.
There were 2 strobe lights on the vehicle, and each would flash twice in a 1 second cycle. (I remember from the stopwatch that it was EXACTLY 1 second, down to the hundredth of a second). It wasn't a steady rate of flashes... Kinda like the below diagram (L=left strobe, R=right strobe)
L..L......R..R......
I can't imagine why the modern devices would cost more than $300 if they use the same scheme. I'm sure the box could be built for about $30 in parts.
Suppose microsoft adds some sort of requirement to it's WHQL certification that makes it unable to work with DriverLoader? That would mean Microsoft is screwing us all over again.
I'm sure I did my fair share of bitching about Groupwise, but I dislike Lotus Notes more.:) Just recently, I realized that the online support for Lotus Notes SUCKS compared to that of groupwise. With groupwise (or ANY novell product for that matter), I could search the knowledgebase for the error message or problem I am having, and I would get SOMETHING. Rarely would I have to open my own ticket. With the Lotus notes knowledgebase, I search for "Archive", and they have never heard of it.:-/
I would like to know what part of Groupwise makes you laugh so much. Just over a year ago, we switched from Groupwise 5.5 to Lotus Notes 5.0, and I have been cursing Notes ever since. Groupwise is easier to manage, users can move from workstation to workstation freely, and it's simpler for the users to understand. Groupwise is neat because it was made solely for email/groupware. Lotus notes wants to be more of a database/web server. The thing about notes that really ticks me off is that it doesn't send an autoreply RIGHT AWAY, it waits till 1AM in the morning, and then sends all of them. Sheesh! Perhaps if Novell puts all of it's effort into Ximian, it may solve some of the problems that you didn't like, but I would love to use groupwise again.
One stage. The Saturn V has 3 stages. This one, and all of the injection-molded toys before it, were only 1 stage. Where's the fun in that?
Hmmm... The 3 stages of the Saturn V are disposable and have no recovery chutes. Seeing your $225 rocket return safely as a $12 command module.... Where's the fun in that?
Right! Stockholders don't know a thing about optimizing a search engine, or UI usability. They just know that they spent money to own stock, and now they want MORE MONEY. There is no better way to ruin a company technically than by going public.
Do these flares affect humans (or even wildlife) at all? You know, even if it is the same way that pets can sense when an earthquake is about to happen....
Lots of grocery stores in my neighborhood are adjacent to train tracks. This makes things easier. Put a cart on the tracks, train demolishes it, you go back and pick up the expensive pieces.
Post a sign on the USPTO door right abobe the night deposit slot that reads "After hours, slide patent candidate through slot. Candidate will not be considered valid without proof of prior art."
A train leaving New York at 8:00 AM heads west at 70 Miles per hour. At 9:00 AM, a train leaving Washington heads East at 85 MPH. At what time do the 2 trains meet?
This problem will totally confuse the students in England, if not for the geography, but for the metric system. (And for the lack of distance given)
On a buisness trip to Philadelphia this year, Mapquest got me SOOOOO lost. I can hardly blame mapquest though, I blame Philadelphia. A few weeks ago, I took a short trip with my sister who had used the Yahoo map service. One thing I noticed: Yahoo did not provide the exit number, and Mapquest did. The exit number is really helpful when you leave the interstate and the map directions tell you to "Turn left on UNNAMED ROAD".
I have worked in the IT industry for 6 years, and I have never even known that there was an ITAA. I certainly don't pay them any dues.... What gives them the right to speak for us?
It's the Holy Grail for developers.... Maybe the developers should learn to organize their files better. This is just going to lead to sloppy programming proctices and lazy programmers. "Why keep the files in directories that make sense when all we have to do is search for them?"
Yeah, but that would only be a problem if you shake hands with someone whose finger was in his ear up to his wrist.
What if the tankers are being towed by wreckers?

Now how can you say that CPUs are based off of alien technology when Intel is making changes like this?
Better yet, Cigarette Companies can infect the cigarettes with the virus. That way, you can say that cigarettes PREVENT cancer....

Hmm... What kind of babies?
...Now give the dang thing a vacuum cleaner so it can clean under the coffee table.
I thought it was a dose of gamma radiation that killed the nanytes. Still, be careful. Too much gamma radiation can turn you large and green....

I don't want to be forced to upgrade to an Apple ][gs...

It's not a "Denial of Service attack", it's an abundance of response requests. Call it what it is, sheesh!

Mississippi's divorce rate jumped to a whopping 72% this weekend. But on a higher note, there were no DUI's...
